I’m so confused! That never happens! (Mostly because I’ve been too busy to camp or do anything. I didn’t even camp today!)

It was a trick update *lol* The address for the site has changed from what it usually is, so adding a number as normal wasn’t enough.
Now I wonder for the next page .. this address bar + the new page number, or the ‘usual’ address bar + a new number xD

Hmm, maybe. And if he seems a bit oblivious, well, I guess at times like these it’s good to remember that he’s a year younger than Kyle. As practical as he’s been during this conversation, he definitely doesn’t have it all figured out. I’m enjoying the character nuance, even if he rubs me the wrong way a bit on this page…

I guess his luck can only take him so far before he steps in it. 😐

He seems a bit too happy to rub it in that Kyle can “do better” than dating a villain.

Good point. He’s also (probably unintentionally) letting Kyle shoulder the blame, which is irksome. Hopefully part of what Spooky has to say is an assurance that being manipulated doesn’t make him responsible for this.

Judging by the way he says “right”, I count on him to set things straight 🙂

So, what could Spooky want to talk about? ‘Kyle, now that you’ve created an inter-dimensional portal once it will become easier, so you’ll need training to avoid to it by accident’? Hmm, nope, I don’t think that’s a reason to send Fluke away. How about ‘Kyle, I’ve detected a spell placed on you by the Priestess to make it easier to spy on you’? No again for much the same reason, and besides Spooky would have already taken countermeasures. Well, unless someone comes up with a better idea, I guess ‘Kyle, Paul is gay too, but is even deeper in the closet than you were, be gentle with him’ will have to do as a placeholder until Alec inevitably reveals a plot twist that renders all our speculation futile…

Nah, even if Spooky’s thoughts run along my own, he wouldn’t out Fluke like that.

I think it might be best be done with a pair of lips. Making him to lose breath. Get his heart to pounding hard. His skin feeling so warm under exploring fingers and a hint of a blush on his cheeks. Yes, Paul would not be able to speak after that. ^_^

I had those reactions as well. Like Paul is rather obliquely coming out himself – and coming onto Kyle (no – not that way, but maybe that is something he’s hoping for in the future).

YES! Spooky will take Kyle away and they will, hrmmm “Talk” ^_^

Oh! OHHHH! I’m bouncing in my seat, here — maybe Spooky’s finally going to fill Kyle (and therefore us) in on some of his history…where maybe he got tangled up with a villain, too? *clutches hair* I’m so curious!

I figure he’ll confess to having slept with Sircea under similar circumstances. Either that, or we’ll learn that the hellgate will only open for true love.

I’m leaning toward past involvement with Sircea, myself, but maybe it’ll tie into “hell stuff” somehow. He had to learn about demons somewhere, and Sircea’s title makes me wonder exactly what/who she’s a priestess of — maybe Laampros himself.

Sircea’s name is so similar to Circe of Greek mythology, that I just assumed some connection to one of the Mediterranean pantheons. But yeah, there’s a lot of stuff we don’t know about our cast. I suppose, if something matters, it’ll come up in the story. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I think it’s telling that Circe is famous for turning men into pigs.

I’m not terribly informed when it comes to ancient Greek religious practices, but a priestess would serve in a deity’s temple, which is why I figured someone who calls herself the Platinum Priestess might serve a demon king. Priestess doesn’t have any particular magical connotation, so I thought it was an interesting choice of title for a magic user.

Hmmmm….that second option would be an interesting turn to ponder.

If our suspicions of Spooky having previous interactions with Sircea similar to those Kyle had with Duncan are correct, now it would be the time to say it 🙂

Term for the Aztec sort-of “ritual alter” that they put the hearts on for sacrifice after they have been cut from the chest of the person being sacrificed. They are usually in the form of a reclining figure, head facing to the side, toward the “audience”, legs bent at the knees, hands holding a “bowl” on the chest area that the heart is put on. There may be alternative spellings. Google or Wickipedia should have plenty of images, I’d imagine.

That first panel just says SO much! I think I was right when I theorized that Kyle only told them what they wanted to hear. Fluke is being kind of clueless, right now. I just wanna Gibbs slap him for yammering on like that! I’m glad Spooky caught it though. I wonder what secret he’s gonna reveal on the next page? Did he get his heart broken by a villain or is he perhaps he comes from a demonic or supernatural lineage himself?

This is probably stylistically awkward, but I can’t help but giggle at the thought of a possible sidebar panel that shows Commander’s word balloons as Fluke fills her in, while the main part of the page is devoted to the “Hell stuff” chat between Spooky and Kyle.

And of course, at least one of those word balloons of Commander’s will be outlined in red. Because um… reasons.

I kinda feel sorry for Commander’s next hour. She’ll have all this responsibility suddenly on her shoulders, plus she’ll probably be the one to fill in Tsunami, and won’t that be a fun chat? Oh well, I’m sure she’s up to the task otherwise she wouldn’t be Commander, would she?

All I can see in my head is Paul talking on the TYP emergency phone to The Commander and that sound the parents in the Peanuts holiday specials used to make, “Bwwaaa bwa bwaaa bwwwa” coming out of the phone. Then the Commander’s “BWAAAASSS” just get a bit louder…

You just have to learn and live with it. And it gets easier with time. At the same time it is kind of amazing how ill informed people are about allergies.

I can’t even imagine. So much in this country is made with nut products.

I do most of my own cooking and when I eat out I am careful. I normaly don´t eat things that I dont know what they contains. My home is a nut-free home…Balls are allowed, but no nuts.

I think it is kind of like not eating dairy or gluten. You can do it and after some time, it is not so hard anymore. And I know that dairy and gluten are harder to avoid then nuts.

My mom developed a bit of an intolerance for the trees in the yard and has been having cross over reactions for the last several months so it’s been a trial trying to find what causes her to have issue. Nothing like anaphylaxis, but still issues. So it’s been interesting. A lot of trial and error. So we’ve been doing a lot more cooking from scratch to make certain to keep any issues to a minimum.

We are always checking labels for things like corn syrup (causes my mom heart palpitations) and doing what we can to avoid soy, but so much is made with soy and corn. But now because of these new issues we’re looking for other various ingredients.

I think being allergic can make you aware of what it is you are eating.
I like cooking from scratch, but then I come from a family where everyone likes a homecooked meal and also everyone knows how to cook. But sometimes it´s like: “Oh, the recipe says nuts. What can we use insteed?”

Mostly it´s sunflower seeds and almons. It is interesting and challenging.
But sometimes I feel like a bor when I try to order something from a menu.

It is kind of easy. If you know a big day is coming on. Go out, buy all the chocolate you can get (steal if you can not afford to buy it, Here, the morale will be with you, and the law will be very understanding). Lock all doors and turn on a DVD of your choice. I would choose Firefly or something similar. After a few days you can come out again. And it will all be over.

This is my way of doing it. You could also move to a place without days (I do wonder if they have nights?), trying to achieve a higher enlightenment and become a glow clouds or find someone how understands that love needs more then one day a year.

I don’t think it’s just you (though I’m willing to review any imagery you may have of your lovely self doing the dancing…purely for cultural purposes of course…) as I have known some Swedes to get naked during midsommar; but perhaps that was influenced by the fläder? Or in my case the fläder cider?
And if you drop across the Öresundsbron at the right time of year you even have traditions like the co-ed naked race during the Roskilde Music Festival in Denmark which is just after midsommar I think.
I have noticed that the Viking nations in general have a much more relaxed and reasonable attitude about nudity than my home country. Then again, my country’s culture is heavily influenced by Puritan settlements who left Holland to come to America because the Dutch wouldn’t let them tell their neighbors how to live. Not exactly big party people.

Yes, the naked bath culture is alive here in Scandinavia. I think the reason why is the view of the human body, or more specified the naked human body is not always viewed as something sexuel. But one should remember that even here there has been a taboo against the freedom that now exists. I think we shoudl thank the 1960 and -70 for this.

That’s got me thinking that maybe for a TYP story arc at Roskilde the boys have to be undercover…so to speak, and participate in the Naked Race…yes, yes, it would be an absolutely critical element of the story. Oh no, Kyle’s hood has turned from white to red! He must be bleeding from the neck.

Actually, I noticed that a while ago. I’m suspecting a different uniform from the one he was wearing in the interlude 1, where the hood was all white. After all, Paul did say that this was his spare uniform when he handed it over on page 11. Also possible is that the costume seen in the team photo and in chapter 1 should have folds of material that are a mixture of red and white when Kyle wears it down, which would imply a third costume.
Or maybe it’s just an art error that just been noticed.

I don´t know for the other question. But for the B, Yes holy water works well. But you should add soap if you want to get really clean. You could also use normal water, but it´s up to you.

Oh Paul. His intentions might be good but he’s so oblivious to how now is not exactly the right time.. something that Spooky clearly realize. Time to split them up and have a private talk.
I don’t think Spooky is too pleased with Paul in this moment. That ‘right’ in the second panel wasn’t directed at Kyle, as I read it, but more an ‘oki, time to get this moving in a different direction’ 🙂
Paul is quickly to react with concern, but Spooky is doing the right thing about splitting them up right now so he can talk with Kyle. Be it about Kyle feeling bad and/or actual hell stuff. Doesn’t matter.

There’s just things a person who hasn’t been ‘burned’ (hur hur) doesn’t get. I think Spooky is about to share a couple of personal things about the wrong choice of partner, or at least personal advice on the topic to make Kyle feel better, because I can’t see him going straight to business just yet.

It is kind of interesting that Paul was afraid of Spooky carefree attitude. He is himself kind of good at putting his foot in his mouth. But this might be a sign of Paul being younger and not able to read the mood as well as Spooky.

Yeah, I think Paul is really trying to show his support, but doesn’t have the life experience to realize that the best support is usually to just be good to your friends and continue to treat them the same way as you have.

Hate to say it, but Fluke almost sounds like he’s victim blaming and Kyle feels badly enough, he doesn’t need the whole. “I screwed up so bad the world is ending” re-enforced. Kyle is the barely-an-adult who had been badly used and manipulated by an older guy who had bad intentions from the beginning. I hope Spooky is going to tell Kyle that, while Fluke’s heart is in the right place, what happened is on Anni, not Kyle.

I think that Paul’s youth and inexperience is showing here. Paul, being a year younger than Kyle, doesn’t get that by already talking about finding a guy ‘who’s actually nice’ he kinda rubs it in Kyle’s face how bad his first choice was.
Something Kyle doesn’t need while already being in the self blaming mood.

Yeah, Paul *means* well, I think he’s trying to be supportive and cheer Kyle up with thoughts of a future good relationship. He just doesn’t have the life experience or emotional intelligence or whatever to be sensitive about what he says.

Warning, I’ve heard that some of the problems with this off-planet Trans-Something Collision issue started when TYP fans actually tried to employ an earth orbital speedifier to make page-days swing around more quickly.

Well mother nature and the earth almost threw a wobbly. The adult teams had to deal with it and apparently… we’re stuck waiting until the next regular page day.

It’s most unfair. It really was a very small speedifier…

So THAT’S why all the adult teams are away…

One of the many saving graces about the crew involved in these commentaries (and I am assured that said graces are legion) is how they not only fill in the spaces around the story and provide a broad landscape for the development of the characters; but how entertaining the side stories are.
Alex, one day when you and your team achieve the recognition and ecosystem* your story and art deserve. I hope that you’ll publish a time-lined version of the work with all the Disqus commentary included. It really is part of the journey and phenomenally entertaining and enlightening. Just a thought.

Spooky is my hero on this page. He hasn’t said anything yet but the look on his face on panel two, the way he falls behind to talk some sense into Kyle without hurting Paul’s feelings (in his shoes I’d be less subtle)… Respect.

As for Paul. I stand by my initial assessment of the situation. I was always ambivalent about his sexual orientation -mostly because I have him pegged as the kind of guy who’ll do anything for his friends, and I couldn’t imagine him keeping it a secret from Kyle on a time like this if he is gay- but this page yells jealousy to me. I’m sure it’s not on purpose, but his self-righteousness and smugness is exactly what Kyle doesn’t need right now. And while Spooky sees that, Paul is completely blind to it.

Now the question is, was he jealous of the fact his best friend didn’t trust him with his secrets and trusted a supervillain instead, so he’s anxious to step up back to the BFF spot and help him find a nice guy… or is it that he wants to be that nice guy?

Spooky reminds me a bit of Peter Falk’s Columbo with his rain coat, and much wiser than he appears to be. 🙂

Easy Paul….I doubt Kyle wants to think of anything to do with his relationship status right now. All he needs for the time being, is his friends support close by, and to be allowed to focus on the task at hand…or at least I think that’s what he wants/needs for now…

OMG, yes. Unlikely, but yes please!

I’d guess because the red parts are shiny material and therefore the reflections of light emphasise the contours of his muscles, whereas the white parts seem to be a non-shiny/matt material and which don’t. Compare it with Paul’s costume, where it’s particularly obvious that the white/silver parts are reflective.

(Which does beg the question of why we’re seeing highlights and reflections at all on a moonlit night, but that seems to be a stylistic choice to fit with the four-colour superhero milieu the story is set in. Even back in the two alley scenes there were only a few instances of dramatic shadow, and the rest of the time it was lit like classic series Dr Who, where BBC production standards insisted that everything be well lit, even when set in a cave.)

I also suspect that the fabrics necessary for these work suits are unusual and probably don’t behave like the fabrics one can by from ‘Jenny’s Fabric & Foam’ store down at the mall… but that’s a total guess.

I have a feeling that Spooky realizes that Kyle’s comment wasn’t about knowing better than to get together with Duncan, but saying that he should know better than be intimate with anyone. I’m not convinced that Paul has realized that both times Kyle has been sexual active it led to disastrous results. Getting into another intimate relationship with anyone is probably not something he sees himself ever being able to do.

In total agreement here. An early stage of post trauma is blaming ones self for what has happened. A person will go over and over in their mind how they could have avoided the whole situation in the first place. For Kyle, it will take some effort on that part of Spooky to get him to realize that bad things sometimes happen to people through no fault of their own.

Alex, Adam and Veronica… so sorry I couldn’t stay with you guys for the count down last night but, as always, it is so entirely worth it to wake up to a present in the morning. So, right off the bat, thank you for our Valentine’s Day Panel#5 and that downshot of Kyle’s really quite exceptional butt. Somebody, among the three of you, simply MUST be gay, because that butt is extremely well done. I’m sure it’s artistically essential to the page, but it was a lovely nod to romance on this day. Thank you!

Yes, In my humble opinion, Paul is having a young babbling moment here. He’s lost in his own sage wisdom and has forgotten his audience. I agree with some of the other reader’s comments on Paul’s still somewhat mysterious motivations. Is HE interested in possibly being that great guy with whom Kyle, “…could do so much better?” (OUCH… phrased as only a 17 year old boy can) Or, is he offering up his highly experienced (NOT) non-queer services as matchmaker on some, as of yet, unknown future date? He’s waxing so eloquently about what Kyle needs done. I’m just so glad I never ran-on at the mouth at 17 years old like this. Whew. You know, those years when we know everything.

Alex, compliments on keeping Paul himself and his age. Wise and pompous, generous and oblivious. I also like that Paul’s nature (as I perceive it) shines on. Those quick snaps between wise/foolish and lucky/unlucky. I’m still excited to see how that keeps forming who he IS as a (super) person. Also, the perfect 17 year old best friend. It’s that WISE period in life when you saying smart things to a woman of substance, such as, “OH! Congrats! When is your baby due?” And her stare skewers you as the ice-sickles drip off of, “I’m NOT pregnant.” Paul is all heart either way. Love your take on his 17 babble.

Huge! On the whole page Kyle’s phenomenally expressive face is killing me (in the good emo way). (Alex), Adam and Veronica, just wonderful work. His expressions are pure confusion and pain and the blush on his skin is so right for who he is physically and who he is as a man with internal banked fires just waiting to come out. He doesn’t say one word on this page and you guys manage to make his emotions the loudest thing happening here. It’s really amazing and you should all three feel very proud.

Okay, I’m lousy about the color of hood collars and things of consistency. I subcontract all such issues out to smarter people like Saxon and others. Just keep Paul posing, Kyle’s butt artfully shared, and Spooky’s sentient coat swirling… and I’m all good.

I so agree with another reader who said that Spooky’s line, “Right.” in Panel#2 is more to Paul and his expression so wonderfully speaks to his growing annoyance with Mr. Oblivious (Paul) and his maturity shows (again). Having been both the Spooky and the Paul in this situation, at different times over the years, I thought you melded verbal and visual in Panel#2 to give us this subtle dynamic really perfectly. Not easy to do at all.

Love horizontal panel#3… Just because I do love the panel compositions in general. I hope in the graphic novel’s page notes, Alex, you’ll add a note about how you three decide on the panel formats for each page. It makes such a difference. The lack of the black border makes us feel like this immense expanse sits behind the other closeups and that gives the page this wonderfully immense live-action location feeling. Just as a great location deserves.

It is definitely another wonderfully subtle touch that adds volumes to the depth of the reading experience. I also love Spooky’s delicate touch on Kyle’s shoulder slowing him and drawing his attention out of Paul’s oration without causing disruption. Again showing Spooky’s maturity and his perceptive internal nature. Lovely. (And I’m warning everyone right now, unless it’s The Sword In The Stone! Even a Sircea tale won’t make Spooky other than Bi to me, unless Alex pounds a WoG like canon moment down. So, I’m prepared to hang on to the bitter end. Spooky is too cool not to hope for. LOL.)

I also really like the gentle face and line of dialog Spooky gives us in Panel#4, just gently breaks the flow and I love Kyle’s worried, ‘oh God, what now’ expression. Totally, in my humble opinion, Kyle’s so ready to blame himself, he’s ready to hear what he’s done wrong now! Poor guy this is a rough patch. I know it’s 30 minutes total TYP time at most, but still on top of his date with Duncan, Kyle has had a TRULY seriously shitty 18th birthday (remember?). They really need to take him out for a birthday cheese-burger and chili-cheese-fries. You know a fly-thru, on their way back to base and celebrate a little. I wonder if Spooky will let them eat in his car? Aww he’s mellow.

Alex, you are a master of leaving us without really knowing what Spooky needs to tell Kyle, but giving us tons to speculate on. “HELL stuff.” Just perfect. That could be so many things and what could better let Paul move on without feeling put down or censured and… for all we know… it may even be true. Crafty. As I’ve said before, it’s almost like you’re designing these things on purpose, just to FORCE the reader to turn the eventual page. (How very odd).

Finally, closing out the page with, again an open un-bordered panel, reminding us where we are in this immensely impressive location and showing one of Adam and Vero’s stunning backgrounds and Veronica’s beautiful night skies. Okay. The weather were I am at. Snowed about a foot on 12th-13th. Was in the 40’s on the 14th, and it rained around midnight-1 am. Today—-in the 20’s and snowing again.

There’s some serious eye staring going on in the last panel. It’s like a silent ‘that’s an order’ is being said loud and clear 😉

I like how they’re friends, but I’m pretty sure Spooky is up to taking the lead when he feel it’s needed, and the others will follow his lead. They’re friends but when it comes to superhero work Spooky has seniority, and right now we see him use it.

He doesn’t need to raise hise voice to command.

I don’t think with a 15 year old and a 17 and 18 year old that there is any question that without The Commander, Spooky is Senior Dude. And, if Tsuanmi is a #2 it’s because Spooky don’t do no day job…………. only when he thinks it’s important. LOL.

I think Spooky wants Kyle…..the “Hell type stuff is just an excuse to get Kyle alone. Could be that he has been noticed in one way or another by every team mate.

And yet we know (okay, okay, we strongly suspect) that Mitch will be listening. Maybe Spooky will put up silencing spell. Hmm, maybe he already has…

Okay, for starters I have to say that like many opportunistic analysts I build upon the observations of the brilliant. So many of you have given me so many things to think about, and, I think like many of you, it’s caused me to go back and read and re-read and study the panels multiple times. I’m afraid I don’t have the artistry that some of you show in your analyses, but here goes:
Panel #1 Coming off of Kyle’s statement about some things being out of bounds we get Paul’s response of “Exactly”. Kyle’s expression (once one can take one’s eyes off of his torso) says to me that this confirmation has settled like a stone in his heart. Instead of being told that he has a right or expectation to happiness or love he gets a one word confirmation that his darkest fear of being isolated, alone and too flawed to be worthy of love is true. Paul, in the sincerity of every 17 year old who knows exactly what the world looks like, remains oblivious to Kyle’s reaction to his response. The depiction of the sadness around Kyle’s eyes and his own raised brow of resignation is heartbreaking.
Panel #2 Spooky is without doubt my hero at this point (and not just because like Chris I find myself hoping that Spooky will turn out to be Bi or Pansexual). Charming, disarming, humorous, intelligent, caring, handsome, and more are the attributes that cling to Spooky and form and swirl around him like a mirror of his coat. But the look on his face in this panel is one of determination. A purpose so founded on the bedrock of his need to protect and heal his family (for can you truly see TYP as anything other than Spooky’s family?) that he stands against the troubles like a rock cliff to the sea; letting it break around him and remaining unmoved. I take his one word response to Paul, “Right” to be one of negation of the concept that Kyle is unworthy of love or being happy. You can see it in the furrowed brow. Not in puzzlement, but in command. Unfortunately, Kyle at this point hears only the word and not the tone or emotion. He can’t meet the gaze of his judge and jury and so instead of seeing the truth of Spooky’s purpose he hears only the verdict of guilty . A second spike of unforgiving guilt driving into his heart to say that his fate is sealed. His head sags in resignation.
Panel #3 Against this broad panel’s star bright sky we see Paul moving forward and expounding on his understanding of Kyle’s position. So secure in his grasp of the situation (and clearly so mistaken) that he doesn’t even look back to see the impact of his oration on his audience. However, I think my first read of this panel was too harsh. Yes, like many of you, I still want to Gibbs smack him. But I think he’s actually more worried than anything and can’t keep from talking. The undercurrent of his conversation is one of trying to express understanding while attempting to reassure Kyle that he really is good and that once the current crisis is dealt with he’ll happily correct Kyle’s errors. His phrasing of “someone who’s actually NICE y’know?” is almost adult to child in tone expressing his belief that Kyle can’t manage on his own. The counterpoint to this is Spooky. Reaching a light restraining touch to Kyle’s shoulder, his face very open and Kyle’s a study in startlement. Spooky is the only one who has touched Kyle with anything like tenderness since the boys arrived at the warehouse. Paul’s one clap on the shoulder in stating how wrong Duncan was to count Kyle out is more distanced. Spooky’s arm across a naked Kyle to comfort him. The outstretched hand to bring him to his feet. The healer’s touch to tell him he was suffering no lasting effects. These are far more personal and communicative. On my third or fourth read of these panels and some of the commentary I found myself wondering if Paul is standing so close to Kyle in so many frames but NOT reaching out to touch him because he is uncertain if he can trust himself to touch Kyle without giving away to a desire he is uncertain will be returned or it’s timing appreciated.
Panel #4 Now Spooky steps past Kyle while putting a restraining hand on Kyle’s shoulder and putting space and separation between Kyle and Paul. Interrupting Paul’s oratory on Kyle’s errors and the plan to set things right in spite of Kyle’s inept attempt at finding a relationship. And Spooky does it with an open expression and a simple request but clearly not willing to brook disagreement or denial of that request. The look of puzzlement on Kyle’s face is a perfect expression of the fact that he is uncertain what to expect from the conversation that Spooky wants to have with him. Remember, he hasn’t yet looked up since his self condemnation so he didn’t see Spooky’s face or posture negate the sentence of isolation and loss for Kyle’s personal future.
Panel #5 In the half turn back towards the other two we see the puzzlement move to Paul’s face. First perhaps in being interrupted in mid-description of how things were going to get fixed (as an engineer myself I am often given to having to hold my immediate desire to FIX THINGS in check long enough to achieve the more important healing that is listening). And then in still puzzled to wonder why it is that Spooky and Kyle need to discuss something that Paul wouldn’t be privy too. Paul was the first one to answer Kyle’s call to HQ. It was Paul who organized the rescue party. How could Spooky want to talk to Kyle and leave Paul out of it? What topic would require that separation? But you can see in the panel that the separation has already been accomplished by Spooky. By the time Paul turns around Kyle is already several paces away.
Panel #6 Spooky faces Paul with a very open expression and an ambiguous initial statement that he has “just realized” that there are things to talk about. It was several reads of the panel before I decided on my current feel that what Spooky just realized is the place that Kyle’s head and sinking heart were taking him and that Paul’s rambling conversation was having the unintended effect of pushing Kyle deeper and deeper under water. Full marks to Spooky as well for his perception that Paul would continue to query what the topic was that he couldn’t be part of unless Spooky gives him some form of descriptor. Now it could be that I’m reading too much into this (wouldn’t be my first misstep in interpretation) but while I think most people expect that “Hell Stuff” is a direct reference to Kyle’s ancestry and a significant source of the current crisis I find myself wondering and hoping if the “Hell” that Spooky wants to talk to Kyle about is the personal one that Kyle finds himself slipping deeper and deeper into as he receives what he believes are confirmations of his deserved exile to a life of loneliness and despair.
Panel #7 In the final panel Spooky moves more into Paul’s space directly and places himself squarely between Paul and Kyle. At which point Paul is clearly focused solely on Spooky as Spooky gives Paul his marching orders to synch up with Commander and provide her with an update. The closing statement of “We’ll catch up.” leaves no ambiguity that not only does Spooky fully expect Paul’s compliance but that he requires Paul’s absence from the conversation. The statement also answers the timing question of “You remember we have a planet to save.” with the understanding that they’ll be in time AFTER the conversation.
While a portion of me would love to take the Wizard Woolfson at his face statement that Spooky and Kyle are going to be making out I’m not certain that he’s not just having us on. Though perhaps Spooky will amaze us with an alternative lifestyle or experience exposure to Kyle that includes a “What? Did you actually think you were the only one?” I think I actually believe that to be the more likely. That Spooky is going to connect to Kyle not with a statement of “It will all be right.” , which in his current state Kyle is unlikely to really hear, but rather by exposing some part of his own past for Kyle to relate to. This makes much more sense to me, or in any case seems more probable. And would also give a reason for Spooky not wanting anyone else to overhear (ignoring the fact that if Mitch is actually still there he will definitely be able to hear Spooky and Kyle unless Spooky bespells the area so that sound won’t travel). On that topic, I can’t imagine what might be going through Mitch’s head. If he has heard all or part of the conversation to this point. If he’s filled in the gaps out of his own imagination? With all the heart and sincerity of a 15 year old for his friend/family I can see him wanting to be the avenging angel that not only defends Kyle but sets the world right. I don’t think the sexual orientation issue will be be big for Mitch. In the interlude segment he was clearly expecting there to be women involved in the porn he was finding, his only comment when he saw that it was gay porn was, “Oh! Oh, wow…” but no overtly negative expression. I suspect that our young Mitch is going to surprise me almost as much as Spooky has. And that will take some doing as Spooky has most certainly surprised me time and again with his range of response. Still, I find myself thinking that Mitch is going to come through with shining colors and be an unwavering pillar of support for Kyle. Though it’s possible that this is just wishful thinking.
For anybody who actually followed me through this small book, my thanks. Comments and criticisms are welcome. I hadn’t expected it to grow so long, but I put the blame for that squarely where it belongs: on the shoulders of Team Alex, Adam and Veronica. Had you not chosen to create both story arc and artwork that was so compelling and enthralling then perhaps I wouldn’t have had to spend so much time describing my reaction.
That said, please keep going for I find that I not only want to know how the story grows but that I have come to truly care how the characters and their relationships will develop. Well done, well done indeed and my heartfelt thanks.

We’re reading this the same way. Except, I’m feeling a bit harsher towards Paul at the moment. While unintentional, I feel his response is self-centered and narrow-minded.

Btw, Paul is the guy in the YP team that I feel is more like me. So it’s not that I don’t like him. But he can be quick to judge, absolute in his decisions and he doesn’t know when to shut up sometimes. He loves Kyle and he wouldn’t cause him pain intentionally -I’m sure he’d be devastated to realize that he did-, but he lacks that special empathy that seems to be ingrained in Spooky.

Spooky on the other hand, is not only deeply empathetic and intuitive but also patient and wise well beyond his years. That kind of wisdom is only won through hard experiences, so I think he may have something to say to Kyle about his own past on the next page. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Sofia. I agree that Paul will be devastated when he realizes that he’s hurt Kyle. His line in the previous page about feeling badly for any jokes that made Kyle feel that they wouldn’t accept him for being gay indicates that his heart is good. I think he doesn’t know enough to shut up because he’s scared for Kyle. He doesn’t know what to do about it, and his fear keeps him talking. He’s younger than Spooky in age but more importantly in experience. And so silence is awkward to him and he feels the need to fill it with conversation. I’m pretty sure of that.
I agree with you about Spooky. Age and wisdom are not guaranteed to proceed at the same pace. And as I think you and others have observed already, Spooky is wise beyond his years.
So many times we try and protect the young, and certainly I believe we should. But I think you have it right that Spooky has been through things that cause him to know how to respond. And one day, perhaps, if we are very, very, good; the Wizard Woolfson will let us see into Spooky’s past.

This is purely an aside/addendum to all this thinking. I have great sympathy for Paul, because 17 is a hard time to get things ‘right’. I also feel that (given the opportunity) I’m going to give he and Tsunami every benefit of the doubt as we experience their behaviors.

How hard it is to be so young. I can remember. Further, in Kyle’s (and possibly other cases) to handle a minority sexual preference, well you know how hard I think that is and equally true for all of them. Gay or not. Young romance is hard stuff to learn and experience.

Here’s a for instance — Amanda was 17 once. And telepathic? And hot looking? Did this mean she heard all the inevitable “guy” thoughts… until she learned to shut her power down? I don’t know, but that’s a potentially harrowing journey. Gay straight guys ARE guys… it’s in the genetics. Just as girls are girls. Maybe The Commander had a lot of gay male friends to relax with when she was younger. (?)

How hard must any of that be to integrate with the responsibilities of an becoming an adult and learning to mange your super-powers. If you make bad decisions, it means much more than parents yelling… perhaps your ordinary mistake means people might die.

Now add on to that… racial minority. I have great sympathy because in Paul and Tsunami we have very young men dealing with all of the things I mention above (assuming the TYP world is like ours, and I see no evidence to the contrary) and dealing with being an ethnic minority too.

Obviously, I have only observational experience with which to articulate what that all means, but minority issues are minority issues, each with their own challenges and this seems like layers and layers of challenges. Many that we may not all be able to understand.

One last complication, as food for thought.

SHIPPING… Duncan, Loki, etc… well if you ship someone you forgive them a great deal. I’m not sure… is Spooky part Asian? If you don’t ship that ethnicity personally, does that effect your interpretation of his character motivations?

If, Asians, Tsunami’s physique, or Paul’s ethnicity, are not your cup of tea… how does that effect your relationship with them and their actions and intentions.

I have many latin, black & gay friends. I live in a city where it’s a given. IMHO, it’s a much harder combination (with gay) than I have being “simply” white and gay.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally fine with anyone’s thoughts on any character for any reason. I respect that they are all unique to each of us. I’m just sharing why I have such sympathy for Paul and and the others and I want to see his actions through the kindest eyes.

Obviously, I’d be very happy to see Kyle ship with ANYONE who loved him, made him happy and didn’t send him to hell (actually kidding, I’ll go there if Alex wants to do the work to make me believe that Kyle will be happy and safe).

I know one thing, my husband of many happy years is with me today because of his racial shipping preferences. He’s a hot latin and (lucky me), he likes regular white gay dudes. I give thanks for this daily… except when he’s really annoying.

But I have to say the Telepathic Amanda hanging out with her horny gay friends had me chuckling. Sort of from personal experience — well, not the telepathic part — but you know how guys notice where other guys look? Sort of a pack instinct for sex? Several years ago I was walking with a couple of good friends, one gay and one str8. Warm weather, beach town, heads swiveling to scan. My str8 friend elbowed me and said, “Will you stop that?” when I asked “Stop what?” He responded, “When I look where you’re looking half the time it’s a guy instead of a hot girl!” . I shrugged and said, “Sorry, can’t help it.” to which he gave an exasperated sigh and said, “For God’s sake, pick a lane!” Broke us all up, still a running joke after years.
Given the intensity of imagination about sex of teenage boys (I’ll leave it to the women to chime in on their part, I can only speak for my own experience) and the frequency. I certainly hope Amanda learned to shield early. Yikes!

Point well made. Paul’s lack of tact is obvious, but his concern for Kyle has equally been made obvious over the past few pages. Last page he apologised with “If *I* made you feel that way, I’m sorry” before moving on to admit collective guilt with the use of “It’s on *us* for making stupid jokes”, and took personal responsibility first. Then there was the rant about how angry he was about Annihilator hurting Kyle that he couldn’t think straight. And before that was the argument he had with Spooky about the best way to approach Kyle, where it was clear that he’s very worried about Kyle’s emotional state. It’s just that Paul has nowhere near as many skills for carrying through with his concerns as Spooky has. Personally I don’t particularly want to smack Paul, but I do feel like shaking my head, rolling my eyes and wearily going, “Oh, Paul…”

Actually, Paul was worrying about, and rolling his eyes at, and shouting at Spooky for, the potentially inappropriate jokes and comments that came out of Spooky’s mouth. So, at heart, I think, as your other examples suggest, that Paul is just as concerned about Kyle as Spooky. This is the post I would have made, except way more harsh towards Paul and less eloquently, if I had been feeling better today. I think I got a stomach bug again. 🙁

I was almost starting to not like him less….but then he opened that mouth of his….At this point I really think it would have been better for Kyle if it had just been Spooky and Mitch to come pick him up. Mitch might have been that annoying kid with all the questions, but IMHO I don’t think that Mitch would ever lack the tact that Paul does on this page.

What I would like to see one the next page:
Mitch slaps/punches Paul and chews him out over his behavior. …..Well, if he isn’t too busy eavesdropping on Spooky and Kyle. Though he could slap/punch Paul and then when Paul starts to ask “WTF dude?” Mitch just shoos him off and says, “Shut up I want to hear this, and you have a call to make”

Ha! I’m annoyed at Paul right now but then I read a comment criticizing him more than I do and I want to intervene and defend him 😛

Paul is not a bad guy. He loves Kyle and he does what he thinks is best for him. The problem is that, unlike Spooky, he seems unable to see the world in any lenses other than his own. And I insist his lenses are colored by jealousy at the moment. That makes me wanna “awww” and punch him at the same time. :0/

Heh, my views on Paul are always going to be negatively skewed. While I don’t hate him, I don’t like him either. And right now, I am really really really not liking him. He just practically undid all the good work they did till now in getting Kyle at least partially emotionally grounded. And nothing against Alex, but if Paul and Kyle end up together, I am going to throw a tantrum. I will hate the heck out it, but it is Alex’s decision and I have no say in it and will respect it. That just leaves more Mitch for me anyway since I won’t be sharing him with Kyle.

I actually think Paul might know a guy who is really into Kyle but has been sworn to secrecy. I would rather have him play matchmaker for Kyle then have them end up together.

…….and not sure if anyone has ever brought this up, at least I don’t remember seeing it, but has any one noticed that Fluke and The Annihilator’s outfits resemble each other? There are some differences, yes, but out of all the different looks we have, those two suits look a lot alike.

I’m in your camp for Mitch + Kyle, and also don’t think Paul is a good match for Kyle, as I think Kyle needs someone a bit more sensitive, and Mitch has already shown that he is sensitive AND cares for Kyle a great deal. But, if that doesn’t happen someday, and Kyle ends up with someone else, you’ll only have to share Mitch with me, if he turns out to be at least “bi”. 😉

I am not saying he isn’t a good person. You know how sometimes you know instantly whether or not you are going to get along with people? For me Paul is one of those people that I just instinctually have a negative reaction to.

I really like your second scenario. I think if Mitch has overheard the entire thing he’s got to be fuming at Paul. Consider:
First He’s got both the Owl hearing and the Eagle eyesight. So he has probably both heard the conversation but since the boys are walking back to him he can SEE the impact it’s having on Kyle. The anguished expression of somebody who never meant anything bad to happen but now finds himself believing that he is evil. And since a part of Mitches heart sits inside Kyle’s, he’s going to be on fire.
Second He had to sit through a lecture by Paul about, “Can you man up for Kyle’s sake?” And then he can hear and see Paul doing the whole “What were you thinking? diatribe and dissecting Kyle’s actions in full blown oratory.
So I’m completely down with being part of the:
Mitch Gibbs smacks Paul.
Paul does a “WTF dude?”
Mitch responds “Shut up I want to hear this, and you have a call to make.”

Yeah – I totally agree and feel on-board with this as well.

Whether it is as a “big brother” type of thing, or more romantic in nature, I think Mitch loves Kyle, and even given his young years, feels like he’d do anything to help or comfort or protect or defend or revenge him.

This was fantastic. I loved your book and agree with almost everything, I only say ‘almost’ because I have to read it a few more time and I’m giving myself an out… but it’s all great.

I tend to forgive Paul all, because we are so very oblivious at that age. I love your noting the touching and Paul’s hesitancy. That’s the kind of “should-I/shouldn’t-I” stuff that you only get a sense for, with maturity. ‘Friend in trauma’. Do I touch him?

I think I told the story once of a friend who ended in hospital after being gay-bashed in NY. I had hugged him many many times in our lives. It was a close and comfortble friendship. And, when he flinched as I came too near the bed, I had exactly that feeling… do I touch and act like all is normal or gently provide a safety zone? I was much older than 17. At 17 every encounter has some of that lack of sureness.

I also love how YOUR analysis touches so well on each cause and effect. I remember “thinking” the same things, but I expressed usually one-side of the emotional duality for economy. I love the thought you put into expressing each action and reaction. Clearly, I take great pleasure in over-thinking the extreme effort I see AA&V putting into each page. So your ‘book’ just extended the pleasure. Alex clearly puts as much or more story telling into the physical expressions and reactions as he does into each line of dialog. I love your exploration of it here.

I also agree, and I said it too, Kyle’s pain and non-verbal confusion is the loudest thing on the page and Spooky hears every word of it. What perfect sense it makes that his ‘power’ centers around thought, emotion, comprehension and perception. Clearly his “super” and human abilities are thoroughly entwined.

Elrohir… this was a wonderful morning read. Thank you so much for taking the time. I really enjoyed it.

The comment for panel 1 about confirmation of Kyle’s darkest fears resonates with something that I wrote about (got worked up about) back in mid January: that Kyle is now ‘twice bitten, three times shy’ about the prospect of safely finding romance and carnal release, and so will stoically deny himself these options for the sake of public safety. What Sophia and myself hashed out was that self-sacrifice from a superhero is laudable when they think the people it’s being made for are worth it, but more worrying when it’s done as a form of self-flagellation and penance.

So, yeah. That sad look on Kyle’s face in the first two panels isn’t mere embarrassment about a mistake, so much as a look of regret as he reaches the conclusion (has his conclusion confirmed by misreading Paul and Spooky’s responses) that the whole romance &/or sex thing isn’t going to work for him and he needs to start doing what he thinks a responsible adult would do and practicing compulsory abstinence. His speech from the last two panels of the last page about ‘some things being out of bounds’ didn’t mention Annihilator specifically, and was ambiguous enough that it could be read far more broadly. Meanwhile Paul is babbling on about finding Kle a nice boyfriend, and I can well imagine Kyle thinking something like ‘Oh Paul, you’re such an optimist. Sometimes the luck doesn’t balance out’. Sometimes I worry that Kyle is a bit too noble for his own good.

I think it’s been mentioned a few times (I know I read something from Chris recently about it) that it’s experience that let’s people begin to see past what’s said to how people are feeling. An inexperience/youth that ignores the signs and rushes boldly through convinced that their world view is the correct one if “only people would listen”
Kyle is in that feedback point where he can hear things that people mean to be comforting and yet the statements just become another stone that he sets into the wall he’s building to isolate himself. In his head I imagine a kind of monologue similar to what you started,
“Why can’t they just understand I’m not safe to be around? Demonspawn?!?! Who could love a demonspawn? Who would want to? I just end up hurting the ones I care about…or the ones I try to help…no wonder…the source of my power comes from hell…no good can come of that…why can’t they see I’m not worth it…the only person who wanted to date me is an arch villain, and even he didn’t want me…he was just using me…my first sex and it opens a portal to hell…why can’t they see the danger?…they don’t know…if they really knew they couldn’t love me…they are better off without me…”
Stone by stone, block by block he builds the reasoning that says isolation is the only safe path. A life of loneliness and despair is his fate. And every perceived confirmation such as Paul’s “EXACTLY!” is just the mortar that binds the stones together.
I think Spooky sees this, I think he has plans, I think that the Wizard Woolfson has a way out for us. I hope so…

I think Steven was just teasing me. 🙂 But one of the things I have come to love about this group is the constant synthesis. My interpretations are always being augmented or guided by the other folks views and thoughts. How would they not be? As with Admiral Jane’s pointing out to me that Spooky’s “Right” was said to himself. It works perfectly for me once it’s pointed out.
Plus, it just feels safe to express myself in this group, and not only because of kind reactions like Steven’s, but because correction and guidance comes with a steady, caring hand as well. Or so it seems. TYP has an amazing group, as Alex has often said. But a community in the true sense of the word.

Actually, I have to say I think it’s incredibly cool that you get it. Still, no birth twin. I am however, one of those incredibly lucky individuals who has a soul twin. I’ve read on the internet that Bluey in Australia can be a nickname for a red-headed person. I found that interesting and now wonder if Australians really use this and if it has a positive connotation.

I’m only visiting here in Sydney (headed back today) and we’ve some Aussie contributors who can give you a better feel for connotation. I know the slang exists, but I’ve never really heard it used as opposed to the term “ginger” which I have heard. I had asked about it on a previous trip some years ago because I had read it in one of Arthur Upfield’s books, the “Boney” series. But I hang mostly with IT folks so maybe the use is more common elsewhere.

I’ve been living in Oz for 3 years now and I’ve never heard that word used for red-heads. But it’s very possible I’ve just missed it.

To futher expand my answer, I work at a uni library, so I’ve waited until got into work and check various dictionaries like the Macquarie Englsh D. and the Oxford D. of Australian Colloquialisms. It’s definately an Australian informalism, being traced back to 1906 and appearing as recently as 1975 in Xavier Herbert’s novel Poor Fellow My Country.

I think it pretty much is as Saxon says. I have cousins who are now in their mid to late 50’s and I remember back when they were in their late teens/ early twenties they had a friend called Bluey with very bright red hair. It was definitely positive and everyone called him that, kids and adults. I think most people didn’t even know his real name. More recently I’ve heard the term ginger and before that ranga (orangutang). Ranga was mostly not positive but could still be used light heartedly. I suppose it would depend on whether the red head was a mate or not. Friends can sometimes tend to give each nicknames. My sister has a nickname that has stuck with her since childhood. I can’t call her by her real name, it just doesn’t feel or sound right.

It is a term that is a little out-dated, but there are some people that still use it. It is an affectionate name for a red-head.
There is a mean spirited term for a red-head in Australia which is “Wranger”.

Two observations:

Firstly, our plan (well… I wouldn’t actually call it a plan, ’cause that implies co-ordinated ‘planning’… more a fan consensus on the Way Things Should Be) to slowly increase the number of bonus pages on backlog at anyone had only recently made to to ‘five’, and this will make ‘six’. Well done. Although to be fair I imagine that lead will be whittled away come the next Kickstarter drive as people reassign their finances.

Secondly, the donation bar seems to be programmed with $400 as the default target. And whenever we go over that, the amount of green shrinks proportionately. I mean look at it now with the green $800 at half way – it’s almost as though the bar thinks that if we’re being frisky with our money it can goad us into giving even more by setting a new temporary target of $1600. Hey, maybe we *have* broken it.

I was kind of hoping of getting the donation bare down to the zero line again. But that would take a lot of work I think.
I think that if we got it up to 1200 right now, it would most likely be 1/3 green. If we got it up to 1600, it would most likely be 1/4 green and so one.
I do not think the donation line shrinks, but that it gets longer and longer.

And I do think you are right, the next kickstarter will most likely make people spend their money on it.

I think that would be another variation on ‘the threat of Zeno’s paradox’ 🙂

There are three or four different kinds of football here (I think four, including European football -what you guys call “soccer”). But Aussie Rules is the best for eye candy 😀

I’ve been to a game, I didn’t understand half of what was going on but it was all very pleasant, I’ll tell you that!

They tell me Aussie Rules was originally developed to keep cricket players in shape off season. That’s why it’s played on a huge oval cricket pitch. Well, with all due respect, I think they over achieved in the sense that the AFL players seem much more fit than the cricket players. I can’t follow the rules either, but it’s way fun to watch.
One minor point on the “what you guys call soccer” , the term “soccer” was originated by the English to distinguish it from Rugby Football. Then they get the poor unsuspecting American’s using it and then dump it. Hmm…puts me in mind of that silly measurement system they stuck us with…inches, feet, yards…but at least we dodged the currency thing and went straight to decimal. I mean, who counts in 12s and 20s? 🙂

About TYP… See, I think that Paul would be great in bed and he’d be there for Kyle forever. If you hurt Kyle, in Paul’s world, he’d tear your throat out. Loyal to the end. Not a bad thing in a BF or long-time partner. Trust me it makes you feel good and safe to feel like #1.

However, in the truest sense, if Spooky is of the nature to fall in love with Kyle, he’d be a true Top, and I’m NOT talking about sex, because leader in a relationship is not about penetration, it’s about maturity and love and trust and experience.

If it was Spooky, he’d keep Kyle’s endlessly pure nature and generosity from harming himself. He’d in essence protect Kyle from his own best self. He’s older and wiser than his years (@disqus_E1BJEAP7bC:disqus said that).

Can’t go wrong either way, but it’s a subtle difference and speaks to these men as they are at THIS age TODAY… all thing change.

Fun thoughts though.

Well… yes, but… The advantage of being in a time zone on the leading edge of the international date line (like Australia) is that we get to Wednesday sooner, but the counterbalancing disadvantage is that we don’t get the new page in the very first seconds of Wednesday but instead have to wait for Wednesday afternoon.

I can't believe they did it again. I have been old enough to hang out with them for months, but they are still leaving me out. Not to mention that I barely get to speak to HIM anymore, what did I do to make HIM avoid me?

Commander took Tsunami with her this time time for one of those new all inclusive supers meetings…If it had been my turn, I wouldn't have to feel this way.

It is nice to have the gym all to myself though. I get to blast the music I like, I don't have to turn on the lights, and I can wear my favorite pair of running shorts without any ribbing (I couldn't make up my mind which of these I liked most for Mitch, so you can pick one from the three links provided ^_^ enjoy ^_^).

The music is still fairly loud from the door leading to the gym, but over the music they hear "unh" "haa" "aah" "nnnn" "Kyylle"

A look of utter confusion comes across Kyle’s face (one of those looks that can’t seem to make up its mind what it wants to be).

Spooky’s smile is practically ear to ear as he pushes Kyle into a position to see Mitch.

Mitch is floating on his side a little above the bench with his eyes closed. His hand firmly grasping his firm manhood, pumping rhythmically. Kyle cannot take his eyes off of him. He had of course seen Mitch naked before, but never had he seen the resplendence of Mitch’s erection.

Mitch’s eyes open to see Kyle watching him. “Oh shit.” Mitch falls a few inches onto the bench. “Uh…how long have you been there?”

Kyle cannot seem to take his eyes off Mitch’s body. “Uh….not that long…right Spooky?”

“Spooky?”

Kyle looks around when Spooky doesn’t answer. Spooky is nowhere in sight.

Mitch watches Kyle while he tries to look for Spooky. When did the door to the locker room close?

What the hell, it isn’t like things are going to get any worse, might as well. Mitch gets off the bench and goes over to Kyle.

He takes Kyles head between his hands and pulls him in for a kiss. When Kyles mouth opens in surprise, Mitch takes that opportunity to slip his tongue in.

Aw yeah

I can not say too much of this. But if I understand my brothers right, they like it is best with exercise clothing that keeps things in place, something that will keep things from bounce around.

Not off the bat, but I can say this… it should be a monologue that YOU like and feel. Your audience can tell. Try to find something YOU feel from the gut. Just my two cents. Break a leg.

I’ve done plenty of auditions in the past… My biggest advice for you is to find a character that matches your type. For example, I’m not a leading man… I wouldn’t play roles like that. I’m more of a character actor and I play supporting roles, so I’ll look for monologues that show off my type… These monologues are kind of silly. I have a good monologue that I use from “Laughing Stock” by Charles Morey. I also use a monologue from a play called “Harvey” by Mary Chase. I used to use a monologue from “Scooter Thomas Makes it to the Top of the World” by Peter Parnell, but that monologue is out of my age range now.
As for classical my most successful monologue is Trinculo’s monologue from “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare.
I would highly suggest avoiding going to Google and typing in “monologues” because you want to avoid monologues that are over done… and monologues you find online will oftentimes be over done.

The best way to look for monologues is to just read! Read as many plays as you can!
But… I know you only have a day, so that’s probably out of the question. But for future you can search through some plays and try to find a monologue to use the next time you audition.

I’m female who is 21 but I look like I’m 16. I don’t know what my type is. I only started to do acting again since high school. After 4 acting classes and medical field not as fitting as I thought it would be, I realized how much I missed acting.

I would like a contemporary. The play is called God’s Ear and it is a family tragedy.

I’m going to suggest some monologues from a play called “The Rabbit Hole” by David Lindsay Abaire, because that play seems to be similar to God’s Ear. I haven’t read or seen God’s Ear, but The Rabbit Hole is about how a husband and wife are dealing with the untimely death of their son. It’s a beautiful play with some beautiful monologues!

I saw THE RABBIT HOLE live onstage and then about a year or so later in a movie. It’s a two or three hanky play. Lots of emotional impact.

I read it several years ago, and I loved it. I’d love to see it on stage, and I always wanted to see the movie… but I never got around to doing so. I really like that play a lot.
