I guess Kyle’s had more than enough monologuing. Anyway, I’m just going to be optimistic about this and assume she doesn’t land unconscious in the ocean and drown. Or unconscious on a rock and splatter. Yeah.

She’s 6000 years old. I assume not only can she swim, she can also cook, clean, type, play piano, and speak half a dozen languages. She owns five yachts and captains them herself. On alternate Thursdays, she dabbles in race car driving and auto repair. During the summer, she often enjoys kidnapping tour guides in historic cities and taking their place just so she can lead tourists in her own bizarre tours for the fun of it.

I always thought she’d find a way to leave Duncan to face Laampros, now I think I know how that’s going to happen.

She had towering dignity! This is quite a fall, literal and metaphorical. But selfishly, I’m glad she got herself out of there instead of facing Laampros in a severely weakened state. He’s got enough contempt for her and Duncan as it is.

Let’s just say that we disagree.

I think she was like “Die Koenige Der Nacht” — a rather horrible person.

But it was Laampros who told Kyle “Do not tremble my beloved son” and promised Duncan the revenge of Hell.

Is this the part where the Annihilator wakes up and tells the YP that he and the priestess were the good guys all along and now the world is screwed? Yep, not looking forward to that bit. :p

I don’t think so. He’s on the hook to Laampros to deliver and if he doesn’t, Lammpros is going to suck the life out of him, slowly and painfully.

I hope you’re right! A plot hook like that would be just too much stress, I’d need to get myself a drink.

Remember, Kyle is kin to Laampros. Maybe even his son.

But he still thinks they are doing this to save the earth. And he may be right.

Duncan wanted to team up with our gang of young heroes but the Platinum Princess didn’t. I think Duncan was super by her.

He tried that already.

She was about to have her “if it wasn’t for you kids and your meddling dog” moment. But instead of a dog, it was a giant laser bear demon.

I guess, maybe, Herself should have wasted the energy to send TYP to Duncan’s prison?

Now I really don’t understand why she didn’t open a porthole to get the YPs into Duncan’s underground prison; she had enough magical energy to open the portholes twice when she felt she really needed it. What gives? Was she lying to Duncan before? For what reason? Or was she just trying to save up power for the meeting with Laampros?

I would assume she was saving it for Laampros, you know, in case things took a bad turn.

Oops. My tired brain shortly forgot it was camp morning when I set the clock last night, but I finally got time to comment.. And wow. This page is a whoa-page.

They got her backed into a corner, to where she created another gateway to escape, only to fall down it in a very non-dignified way. Karma when she was arrogant enough to not ‘have the energy’ to send the team to Duncan’s before, only to have enough energy to repair the bone circle, and then create two gateways.

Now, if feel more sure than before that she dropped Fluffy in a remote mountain area, somewhere in the east, on earth. Too bad it doesn’t look like she will end same place. She DID get dropped in water though, maybe in more than one way (could be Mitch style).

Now, to look for Duncan again.

I’m of two minds about what might happen next. 1. Platinum Platypus pops in behind them, freshly healed and blasts the team senseless, or; 2. The battle with these two villains was never the big event. The real challenge that establishes Kyle as one of the greatest heroes in the world is Laampros and the portal, possibly, in some incredibly risky way that Spooky urges, restoring the walls between the worlds. I’m eager to see how it plays out!

This page communicates “This isn’t the main event” to me in subtle ways. Firstly, a triumphant victory blast is usually a full-page affair with much red word balloonage. See aforementioned “I…have had enough…” line above. Here Kyle gets a wind-up and a blast that frankly doesn’t fit the “Oh, WOW!” pages I’ve seen by this team before. Don’t get me wrong. The quality is first-rate and professional. I only point out that it might be a subtle storytelling tool. I don’t know for certain, so I wait to turn the page Saturday and find out.

Alex said that this was the story about how Kyle became the greatest hero of his day–I think. Don’t quote me. I’m on drugs and thank you, they’re legal. That leads me to think that the big shebang awaits our heroes in the next page. No matter what happens, I’m here with bated breath. Alex, Adam, and Vero, thank you for yet another accomplishment you can feel proud about. Your creative team is epic.

A long-time reader from Artifice days but first time poster. Always fun to read the conversations resulting from each new page. It’s quite the community!

I wonder why Tsu can’t stir up the water beneath PP and bounce her back through that gate to get her just deserts, especially if she’s unconscious, as the script says. At the very least, he could use the water to bring her staff back so Spooky could destroy it. Of course, that might short circuit some of Alex’s circuitous plotting!

That water is far away. Even if Tsunami could bring it up from such a distance, it would take too long.

Pronounciation is as bad as French, but grammar is hell. I’m really happy I don’t have to learn it as a second language.

Spooky’s not that young. And Kyle’s only 17. So I’m pretty sure they’re close in age.

Actually, Spooky is 20 and Kyle is 18 as of yesterday (comic time). 🙂 Mitch is 15, Commander is 22, Fluke is 17 (I believe) and Tsu is 21 (again I believe). 🙂

Sometimes I feel like the poses/anatomy are a little tiny bit off in this comic (I get it, dynamic motion is really really hard). Usually it’s alright. Sometimes the poses just rock. That first panel rocks. She really looks like she’s mad enough to spring forward and bite.

O.K. this is where Mitch needs to reappear quickly fly into the vortex grab her staff and fly out… just to be on the safe side.

Here’s hoping that last blow from Kyle ends up knocking her out long enough so she can’t pad her landing 😀

Is she landing on a tiny island? I’m a little confused by the last panel. The island looks large, but then it looks like she is right on top of it already, so it’s barely bigger than she is.

I think she’s going to be falling a distance? her shadow is kinda confusing tho isn’t it. you’re making me second guess myself. maybe you’re right, and it’s a tiny island. :p

Right, it’s the shadow that’s confusing me! I couldn’t pinpoint it until you mentioned it. Thank you. Judging by the shadow, she should be mere centimetres above the island.

wait, I just figured it out! She’s falling toward the portal, and hasn’t hit yet. The shadow is being cast on the flat portal, which is like a window. she’s about to fall through and it will be quite a drop.

That’s possible too, and depends on the rules of physics the author and artist have established. I would personally say it’s more consistent to simply treat the portal like an open window, so any shadows cast would pass through it simply. After all, we can see the island and someone on the island could see her just fine, so light passes through the portal unaffected – shadow shouldn’t behave differently then.

For sure, but considering this isn’t actually a window, but maybe something more like a door, it could catch shadows (according to the author and artist’s physics)? Or maybe the artist added it to try to express that PP was above it still, thus providing depth? heh, or maybe she’s just casting a GIANT shadow on the ground. lol either way I guess we’ll have more information on the next page! XD

No idea, but a lot of the old shows are available in different formats, and I’m sure there’s people that do it as a “tongue in cheek” tribute type way in their shows 🙂

oh, when i was a wee lad, some movie houses had a saturday matinee for kids for a quarter. candy cost a nickel or a dime, and flash gordon, jungle jim, or rocketman or tarzan would have a half hour episode, always with our hero in a terrible trouble, and then the voice over. i think superman was in there as well.

i saw THE THING there and it scared me so bad i ran out of the theater to home half way through. in my defense i was about 10 years old, and its still scary

i got my first computer just when windows 95 came out, so i never had to monkey around with ms dos, and i have never been unplugged since, barring power outages .

I’ve always been interested in computers, and I’ve used my grandparents’ computer quite a bit. But I haven’t had a computer in my house since I was about 4. It was a really clunky computer, and apparently was used back when dial-up was still a thing. Luckily though, last year I made enough money at my summer job to get myself a laptop. Money well spent, I’ll tell you that. lol
Whoops…went on a tangent a bit there. Sorry about that. :T

wait, i’ll go too. a laptop is just a form factor of computers… as are tablets, and to a greater extent each year, so are smartphones. think about it, you can plug a 256 gig flash drive into your smartphone, if you have one that has expandable memory slot. that first computer of mine had blazing 1 gig hard drive, more than anyone was thought to need way back then, and more than most people had for another 5 years. i have had two other form factors in the past 5 years. an asus transformer, on of the first convertible tablets, and now i have a nuc, and an hp slate 21 pro, an android powered 21″ all in one desk computer, which is little more than an upright tablet on steroids, and a NUC a computer the size of a soup bowl. thank god this stuff is all very affordable now. you were probably, if it was really old, talking about a crt monitor, and a tower the size of a breadbox. you may have to look up breadbox on google to get that.

Right now I have a tablet- Microsoft Surface RT
and a laptop- HP stream 13 with Windows 8.1

Once I have enough money though, I definitely want to get a desktop computer because my laptop doesn’t hold nearly enough memory. I keep having to use usb drives. But when I have a desktop it’ll be easier since it’ll all be in one place. That’ll be a while though considering I only work in the summer, and there are so many other things I want to buy.

yup, pretty much what i described, although i didn’t bother with the keyboard. i was going to try to show you my original asus transformer. but the company named a newer window version the same designation, and they are like a firewall against anything about the original. they came out the year after the apple ipad blew up the market and other makers were scrambling. it was the first tablet/keyboard charging dock, and it did everything better, letterbox proportions for wide screen view. double the batteries top and bottom for about 10-11 hours battery life and an ips screen. i still have mine, but it just quit and i haven’t had time to figure out the problem, other than old age.

this is the overview of my mini. despite what the review says, mine came loaded with win 10, so no messy conversion necessary. i bought it chiefly so that i could utilize 3 programs that were only available in windows formats. that old perception that android is only for mobile devices. turns out, my old android os now sleeps most of the time. windows is faster and cleaner, and this little bugger has a generous hard drive for its size. i was originally looking at plugins like the intel compute stick, but the price would not come down, then i saw this and its extra features and paid twice as much…

But I totally agree about the Windows thing. Imho, buying a computer with Windows is better than buying a Mac or anything of the sort.

actually i am really cheap, i did shell out about $250 including shipping for the set, but my 21″inch android, that i am currently using mostly as a monitor, only cost me $200, and i only bought that because i thought my old 17″ lenovo had crapped out. turned out a trip to the windows story, turns out honolulu has one, and about 45 minutes for a clean install, and it is up and running.

because i thought the laptop took the optical drive with it, and neither of my working computers had one, i picked up one online, and didn’t even pay for it, one of my old sponsees has amazon prime and had it shipped to me as a gift. somewhere in here, when i am supposed to be taking care of business, i am supposed to be uploading my cd collection to google play for safekeeping and not having to ship them.

You save where you can. I get it. I always get things with good enough quality but low enough price. Last year I actually got the most amazing deal. It was after christmas, so there were lots of sales. And I found a brand new Canon scanner/printer for only $25 on Amazon! I was just browsing and there it was. Super happy about it.

i got a nice printer on sale once too, and it was fine until i had to replace the ink cartridge, and they would have cost more than the printer. i wasn’t up for that action, so it sat until my next yard sale.

i am not a big fan of windows, and i spend a lot of time using android so i was fine until i wanted to use irfanview and poper blocker. both are really good at what they do, and neither was supported by windows. most of the time you can find an android analog, but not for those two devices which i needed for what i do.

ing why not get an external drive, you can find 1 or 2 T external drives on sale everywhere. you might even want to check blinq.com and use that 25% discount on top of a sale price drive. a lot cheaper and less bulky than a desktop. to me. the best part of a laptop is that it folds up freeing up all that space, AND shutting away your current projects from prying eyes.you can even look into a desk/table that has a slide under shelf, like the old desks did for keyboards, only bigger shelf.

*sigh* There was a small shooting incident the other morning about 15-20 minutes from Doki. Doki is thankful she doesn’t know the shooter, the one person killed, or the other injured parties. The shooter was shot, but not killed.

They suspect the motivation might have been the coverage of the deaths by police.

FFotW (Fun Fact of the Week) in the city of Mulhouse, East of France, they ordered a sculpture for the City Grand Place in the early 1900’s. When it was delivered, the Schweissdissi (the guy who sweats in local German dialect) was looking away from the Church and made a grosse skandaal as he was buttnekkit! The Church asked (and obteined that he looked an other way, then the Town Hall

Years ago I joked that I wanted one of those little boy piddling fountains that faced my neighbor who kept his yard filled with junk.
Sadly, I never did save enough money to buy it.
