Spooky… we really need you now…. please snap out of whatever thing you are in……

You know, it occurs to me that this is the second time that Spooky – one of the Young Protectors’ most powerful and certainly most versatile members – has sidelined himself through overreach. He has to at least try and save everybody. A habit/quirk/compulsion that a villain could use against him.

Now, normally I’d look at the story elements taking place and say that the writer has deliberately sidelined the mage so that the team don’t have a potential deus ex machina to fall back on. I’ve learned the hard way that Alex is more subtle than that, but I strongly suspect that the solution will be the others talking Red Hot down.

So he’s an empath now?

I think Laampy can feel the fear, maybe rage, in people, and enjoy it. Maybe he can smell it too. Whether he/they can feel more than that emotion/emotions, not sure about that yet.

Please, Alex, please please give Kyle back his eyes . . . .

I suspect that what Red Hot is sensing is being manipulated by Laampros. But it’ll take a while for me to decide whether its a real ability of Red’s that he’s just developed that happens to have the limitation ‘can only detect negative emotions’, or whether the ability is entirely Laampros and Red is simply on the receiving end.

I am also thinking it might only be the negative/darker emotions/thoughts he can read

So, Kyle can sense fear, but how specific? Just the feeling or actual thoughts? I think it’s the fear itself, but that is hurtful enough when you are in a stage of rage and panic, and get the emotional impact from others as well.

That Laampros, and now Kyle, are powerful enough to sense emotions, explains why Amanda’s powers doesn’t work on Laampros and perhaps Kyle now.

In his defense, the demon-part was never properly recruited.

Laampros is trying to steamroll Kyle because he knows that Kyle is vulnerable. Kyle is a jumble of emotions just having been betrayed and misused by Duncan, fondled by Laampros, and now, being turned into a demon — none of that willing. It’s kind of like the magical version of tripartite rape.

Tsunami, on the other hand, is kind of a blockhead and a nag. He’s going to need to grow some to get through this.

I hope he lives long enough to :p

For me there is nothing wrong here to feel fear. Fear of Lamproos, fear for Kyle but also fear of Kyle, of what he might do if he flips to the wrong side and follow his father, or he completely lose his shits while having tremendous powers. It is a normal, human emotion. I have, like everybody I think, very petty and selfish feels and thoughts, but I don’t (or I try not to) act on them because I know better. What is important is not what you feel, it’s the way you acknowledge them, and it’s what you do and what you say. So now is the time Tsu has to say and do the right things. Go on, Tsu, we all believe in you!

However much you know that everybody has such thoughts, actually sensing them in your friends would take some getting used to.

I think the one most harmed by his new empath ability is Kyle…. he’s picking up on the darkest thoughts of the most closed-minded member of their group, and can’t hear the ones who support him unfailingly… Maybe Flyboy should swoop down so Kyle can pick up that they’re not so different….

Flyboy to the rescue! (Again). And Spooky’s help would so damned precious right now…

Especially since Spooky’s first kiss card involved a demon…so he definitely would have no issues with Kyle

Kyle doesn’t have a good track record at avoiding manipulation, to be fair. Though the sample size is too small to draw immutable conclusions from.

And Laampros continues to borrow phrasing from the Palpatine/Vader 12-step program; two guys who you should NEVER listen to. Now, all he needs to do is rub his hands together, tell everyone his plan to conquer the world in enough detail to give them a chance to beat him, and twirl his mus– wait a minute, you made a villain without a mustache? Next thing you’re going to tell me that he’s not going to tie the Commander to some railroad tracks. There’s no tracks? Seriously?

Sigh. Kids these days. No respect for tradition. 🙂

I knew Tsunami would make Kyle actually think about what Laampros said about him being a monster. Tsunami really needs to THINK before…uhm…thinking. LOL. Man, demon Kyle is hot. I really hope he retains some of these demonic changes when/if he turns back to human form. Or at least I hope he retains the ability to go demon when extra power is needed.

Demon!Kyle reminds me of the X-Men’s Nightcrawler in some of his facial features. I don’t disapprove.

I wonder what Duncan/The Annihilator would say to a rampaging demonified Kyle after he wakes up. Would he question his resolve again to proceede with the plan (because summoning Laampros is suposed to be step 1)? Would there be an attempt at a conversation? If there were a conversation I can see it going either way to calm (because as unrealistic as it currently is I want an ending with somekind of positivly tinged relationship between Duncan and Kyle) or further enrage Kyle.

I’m a bit concerned here. If kyle feels fear from all of the crew, it might make it too tempting to ally with his father. He would feel as though he has no one. He might just flee to give himself time to think. I kind of hope he does.

It would certainly be intresting to see where a tutelage by Laampros could get Kyle, though the part where he becomes the greatest champion would have to be delayed for it.

Nah, don’t think so. I think he’ll still do the right thing, but maybe he’ll have a harder time trusting people after all this.

You know, looking at Tsu-Tsu in that last panel…Does he look a little sad to anyone else?

I’ve been wondering on that, actually. Laampros (last page) and the script say he looks horrified. There’s certainly been horror in some panels, but in panel 4 he looks a bit sad and sheepish. I’m not going to rule out the possibility that Tsunami is having the same worries about ‘needing to think positive thoughts’ that a lot of the readers have.

I think we’re going to see a revisit to this quote from Duncan on page 24 of the Prologue…

Hello campers. It’s actually rather warm for the time of the year where I am.

Ha!

We were in the 40’s during the day for several days earlier and I was swearing at the cold. (Shhh, weenie here) Even with the heater on in the house my room is the coldest and so I need to use a floor heater to supplement. I’m just glad my pup is a furnace and helps keep me warm at night.

Warm shading to feverish. I’m coming down with a cold, I recognize the symptoms. Yuck. I brought some mint tea but I’m afraid it might spread the cold. 🙁

Doki was having an okay day, and then….IT came and Doki was all “f*ck da*nit all to hell” as IT came so late in the day that the cramps are probably going to start when I want to go to bed. -_- Came home (Grandmother had a drs app and then we had to get cookie making things) and Doki let herself have a consolation candy cane only for the candy came to at some point cut her tongue. -_-

Just any pain pills that have caffeine in them. Caffeine makes my heart very uncomfortable until it is out of my system.

They have a caffeine free Midol. Which is just a pain killer and diuretic, but that’s better then just a pain killer.

I haven’t seen them. 🙁

Baking is just something I enjoy so I often have homemade stuff in my house.

Sorry 🙁 got mine too the other day. Had to stay home from work yesterday because I was bouncing between headaches and nausea. Since I learned that potassium can help with menstral cramps as well as normal muscle cramps I started eating bananas during that time of month. It helps.

Apparently salt can also help… that just sounds less appetizing to me. But marathon runners will actually carry salt packets with them and down them on the course when they get a muscle cramp.

Ah! No wonder I was craving potato chips (Kettle Brand Jalapeño) last time. All that lovely salty goodness. 😀

He, this reminds me of a treat I get at Ren Faire. Frozen chocolate covered bananas that they call monkey tails. I’ll never forget the time I walked up to the vender and proclaimed with much gusto “I’d like some tail please”

I was at Disneyland with a friend years and years ago. I think she and I spent most of our free cash on them. Every little vender we found we bought one. Usually the ones covered in nuts. Okay that just sounded bad.

Anyone else see the latest Jason Bourne movie?

Is it as quickly cut as the one in NYC was? I barely saw the backgrounds in the city.

Actually I would rate it right up there with the Jeremy Renner one. The story was just a hodge podge of ideas and never had a cohesive story. It was just … it could have been good, if they had actually thought the story out.

Years ago, I lived in Tudor City in New York and that’s where that one Borne was filmed. I had to stop frame the movie to see the buildings. Shame, that’s some of the prettiest sections of NYC.
I’m still smarting about Batman V Superman and its non-story telling.

I’m still convinced Zack Snyder hates Superman.

There an unnecessary death in Bourne that I’m still annoyed about. And the rehash of the previous Bournes without being as good as. Though you do learn a bit more about his history

I only bake those loaves of bread that are already formed. Baking is an art that I’ve never mastered.

My stepdad used to bake his own bread and things like that. So I have an example.

I tried baking once.
It’s better I go to a store and leave that to professionals.
