So! It looks like our firebending hero is losing steam in his fight against his father’s evil. And now Laampros is saying he can see unspoken desire in Kyle’s heart. Is it true? How will his friends react to that? And where is Laampros going with all this?

Right now I think Kyle would prefer that over getting his desires shared with the whole group, the closest he comes to family, and the ones he’s most afraid of dissapointing/losing.

…Anyway, I wonder why Kyle makes meaningful eye contact with Paul at this moment rather than Spooky — it seems to suggest that Kyle’s feelings for Spooky are a betrayal of Paul in some sense. Wonder what that’s about.

True! I just would have expected Kyle to be at least looking in Spooky’s direction considering he’s in a very perilous position at this point, yet his attention immediately jumps to Paul.

Maybe it’s because he’s looking to the nearest one of his friends for their reaction to this little revelation? It’s something I would do if I was suddenly put on blast like that.

He’s still sensing everyone’s emotions, right?

If he was talking about Spooky, then Kyle wouldn’t be looking at Paul in the last panel.

I think he’s definitely talking about spooky.

Kyle is looking at Fluke because they’re best friends and he’s possibly feeling Paul’s reaction to the news.

Because everyone wants Spooky.

On the up side, Red was strong enough not to crawl under a rock with embarassment back at the warehouse.
Also on the up side, that whole filled with “demonic rage” thing (the words used in the script) means he’s even less likely to crawl under a rock with embarassment.
On the down side, filled with demonic rage means he’s less likely to be able to form a coherent plan.

Oh yeah, I’ve harbored this ship since the Spooky-hug in chapter 3. And now it’s exactly 50% canon!

Uhm.. is Laampros flinging Spooky away ‘unharmed’ (for now), towards Kyle, before he’s about to verbally stab Kyle some more, or is he about to use Spooky against Kyle? Will he hurt Spooky next?

The way the demon is switching between attack and a weird, questioning… almost contempt fascinacion of Kyle, it’s very hard to predict his next action/reaction. Other than it’s not going to be a good one.

I don’t think Laampros understands human sexuality or emotions.

Yeah, that weird sort of ‘fascination’, leaving him unimpressed.

I think he might, but just doesn’t understand why his child would choose to wallow in them.

Back when Laampros first met Kyle, he cast shade on “that tiny thing” or something like that.
Chapter 2, page 36.

Yeah, totally not a cool move to talk about your kid’s dick like that. Doesn’t he know that’s genetic?

I think he understands human sexuality (at least the mechanics of it, hence why we have Kyle), it’s probably the emotions part of it that eludes him.

It took me a while, but I finally realised that the final panel, the ‘Throwing Spooky away’ panel, isn’t actually part of the page. It’s the same art as panel 4 (cropped differently so that there’s a little bit more art on the right hand side, and sans dialog).
Alex seems to have included it as some sort of pin-up. In-story I think Laampros has still got Spooky floating above his pointy mitts.

So that explains why Laampros didn’t want Flyboy making off with Spooky, he’s prime Kyle manipulation fodder. Poor Kyle, hasn’t he been exploited enough 🙁

Damn, talk about being put on blast! Parents can be the worst. Hope Spooky was too busy with his internal conflict to have heard that, although I suspect he already knows about Kyle’s feelings, and is leaving it where Kyle wants it–private (until now).

not sure – Laampy says memories, and i’m quite sure he has a different concept of time, so that spooky-crush may have been way before Annie…

If Spooky had known, he would have told Kyle. Asking him to sleep arm in arm totally chastely would have been cruel had he known.

Very good point! But maybe Spooky’s motives behind that were about being nice to Kyle in not making their friendship weird over something Kyle doesn’t want to talk about, and maybe even Spooky sorting out how he feels about Kyle versus Amanda. He feels (or maybe Amanda and he both feel) that a Spooky/Amanda ship would be problematic, so maybe he toyed with the idea of getting with Kyle? My guess is that he probably sensed that Kyle was part demon (even if subconsciously) and maybe that reminded him of his other little cute friend in Hell? There are so many possibilities with that, but I guess will find out eventually once Spooky lets go of what’s jamming him up and he can discuss the matter at more length.

Maybe he was never that into Duncan? I mean they only interacted like three times and a big part of the appeal was that Duncan was fireproof.

Plot twist: Laampros is actually only here to meddle in Kyle’s love life and set him up with Spooky.

(Unrelated, but I wonder if Laampros is about to reveal something about Spooky…)

Like some reciprocated and equally-repressed feelings? That could be enough motivation to open, like, 5 whole cans of whoop-ass!

Or perhaps Kyle was added to the team so Spooky could monitor him. I feel that news would be devastating.

I’m one of those people that is always on the “verge” of writing something.

Next Laampros pulls out his scrapbook of his son’s embarrassing childhood photos and shares every excruciating detail with all of Kyle’s friends. Filled with rage and despair, Kyle’s demonic transformation is then completed, and he crosses over to the dark side.

I think the mortifying naked baby bathtime photos will push him over the edge.

Sheesh, some parents just don’t get the PRIVACY thing!

Still WAY better done than that retcon to make Iceman homosexual, ‘Hey
what’s claimed to be your younger selves showed up and the telepath of the
group read your younger self’s mind and declared he was homosexual’
something in the main comics no telepath noticed prior to that point’. They could have done a much better job of it with a unique fresh character than a stunt like that.

Hope Kyle’s memories don’t tip him off that Spooky is a pro demon hunter.

Most likely his father’s dealt with that enough over the ages to not have much of a problem with it, not like he’s going to consider any ‘insect’ a threat to him even a hunter of demons.

…At the same time, Laampros!! That was not your business to reveal! A little respect for your son might go a long way you know… >:s.

This was definitely hinted at in the truth-or-dare mini story, but I just went back and re-read a bunch and noticed how you don’t see Kyle react much when Flyboy gets shot down by the Platinum Priestess, but when Spooky is hit and lands on his own magic vial Kyle gets really angry and his fire powers seem to get a boost. Also when Kyle sees that Spooky has recovered he gives Spooky a really energetic hug, but I didn’t think much of that at the time.

Those kinds of things are almost always missed by people except in retrospect. For example Northstar’s homosexuality that was very poorly outed in Alpha Flight, I went back through every issue up to that point since I had the complete set and you could see the clues scattered around through the issues but were subtle things. It was extremely well done, he was a person who just happened to be homosexual and didn’t see a need to wave it around to everyone which was well in keeping with his uptight and private nature.

It was subtle because it had to be, they weren’t allowed to say it outright.

Which worked perfectly, when they did finally say it outright they moved him more towards the stereotype from the private character he was, they made the character too much about his sexuality after that instead of it just being a part of him. The writers just don’t seem to handle things well after they out a character, they try too hard rather than simply writing things organically.

Naturally. Problem is once you establish something like that then you have to do something with it which just slams into it’s own set of roadblocks. Not only were there few other gay characters for him to potentially be paired with (and even fewer he’d have a chance to actually interact with) but they still weren’t big about actually showing characters actually having gay relationships. Marvel’s actually been pretty bad about that until recently. So they’re left with a character who’s left with little more than the ability to talk about how gay they are instead of just showing it naturally. Then you add in that writing a speedster onto a hero team is difficult in the first place (they can solve way too many problems with no difficulty which makes them hard to use at all) and you’re left with him shoved off to the side with nothing to do.

And once the barriers were dropped they shoved him into a relationship they didn’t bother to build up, married him off despite the relationship being shown to be fairly flimsy and then shoved him back in the corner.

That kind of thing is why I just stopped reading marvel over a decade ago, with the last title being Spider-man that stopped with One More Day, the awful writing and inability to handle the characters in a decent fashion just killed all my interest in things. Doesn’t matter the character the bad writing just turns me off completely and I’m just not going to waste time and money buying stuff I don’t like hoping someday they’ll finally get back to writing something worth reading.

Yeah, me too. They kind of seem dedicated to destroying anything good they have.

Years ago I bought a friend a fridge magnet that said “proud to be an embarrassing parent”. Now I’m wondering if there are fridges in the hell dimension.

Given Paul’s reaction to Kyle’s Really Bad Date Night, I can’t see him getting homophobic about Kyle’s unrequited love for Spooky. It’s still going to be a bit of a shock, on top of rather a lot of shocks in the last twenty four hours.

He said that it was only Kyle’s taste in men he diapproved of. Why shpuld he disapprove of Spooky?

Demon hunter. Can you imagine the embarrassed/tense family dinners?

I feel so bad for Kyle because no one wants their innermost secrets revealed, least of all by their parents, in front of their friends. The worst part is that it’s for manipulation purposes. You really feel for Kyle because it’s not embarrassing – embarrassing is your mom whipping out the baby pictures; it’s degrading. His father has no respect for his feelings or privacy.

He’s literally violated his privacy. The mind is such a sensitive thing and we guard our thoughts so heavily. Amanda is very cautious of this because she is human and we get the sense that she tries to close off her mind to the boys because it’s not her business what goes on in their heads. Laampros has no idea of, I guess, what you could call “mores of the mind” and violates it. It’s like exposing a mental diary.

So, while I find it endearing that Kyle has had this crush on Spooky for a while, I’m really disgusted and saddened that we had to find out this way, Kyle should have had the chance to tell us himself. That was his secret to tell, not his father’s. So, I feel him looking away to the left is more of a way to try to hide his shame and not trying to look at Paul.

I found out at Truth or Dare. Kyle almost said “lovers”

Yes, but as I mentioned above, only we as readers are privy to this. The characters’ minds were erased of this incident.

The Truth or Dare comic made it pretty obvious.

Here is the thing, we were made privy to this but his friends didn’t know this. Their minds were erased of the Truth or Dare incident. They remember nothing. It would be one thing if they knew about it, but they don’t. It’s an extreme violation of privacy.

Sure, but he’s a demon king with at least empathic powers, privacy was never even on the menu.

This is no different than when he revealed that Kyle’s team mates weren’t all okay with him, it was him revealing private personal feelings to everyone. And it’s almost certainly a gambit to turn Kyle against them.

When you talk of your own feelings, you are taking ownership and control of them, no matter how embarrassing those feelings are to you. They are yours and you admit them.

I’ve felt bad for him since Laampros revealed that his team was afraid of him. Can you imagine being him at this moment, having your friends withdraw from you because your heritage is made known? Or maybe something you’ve hidden because you felt never should matter to your friendship is made known? Maybe you can’t, but I know how he feels as I’ve been there. I have epilepsy, which in Catholicism used to be called Satan’s disease, aka “being possessed by Satan.” There’s still a stigma attached to epilepsy here in the real world, that you can’t work or that you are broken.

I had a grand mal seizure once in church, while I was an alter girl. We were reciting the Lord’s Prayer and I remember reciting, “thy kingdom come, I will be done,” and nothing else after that. I had what is considered one of the worsts kinds of seizures to have in front of over 100 strict traditional Catholics while reciting one of the holiest prayers during the traditional Catholic mass. Not one person who went to that mass who went to my Catholic school looked at me again. Not one parishioner looked at me in the eyes again. The priest, the deacon and everyone else didn’t look at me again and stayed at least five feet away from me because to them I was possessed DESPITE Pope John Paul II saying Epilepsy was a medical problem in the 80s. I was TEN years old when that happened.

I am Kyle in so many ways. He can’t control his fire. I can’t control my seizures, even with my medication at times. His dad is Satan; I have a disorder that was once considered Satan’s disease. I know exactly how Kyle feels as I’ve been there again and again and again. I cannot tell you how many times I have cried over losing friends due to this disorder or how many times they’ve thrown it in my face. That is the face of Epilepsy.

I mean I guess some of us suspected it anyway since the Truth or Dare bonus comic though our heroes obviously forgot about it again: the at-sleepover-having-to-touch-Spooky-because-he's-cold-thing they also did at that day and it was obvious how flustered Kyle was about it ^^

but in any case… not only to make Spooky know it now (while he might be in fact the only one "not really listening") but also all the others… it's the worst… in the worst way… daaaaaaaamn

Well…. considering Spooky’s current state, I can sort of understand Laampros’ confusion about his son’s attraction. Massively bloated, catatonic teens usually don’t make a parent’s top ten picks for their kids….

He knows how spooky usually looks AND why spooky looks that way.

Makes me wonder why he isn’t doing something about it. Spooky has something which is HIS.

I didn’t notice till I zoomed in with my phone, the look that Kyle gives Fluke. Clearly he’s worried. Do they know? Do they suspect? Are they disgusted?

I hope not. I have a feeling that Tsunami will say something ignorant at some point. Before that, Fluke may ask if it’s true. I think Fluke is an alright guy. He may come around.

Would love to see the other characters back stories. Fluke and Tsunami specially. Will they be explored at some point?

I would say ‘dang’, but I literally just said I was hoping to be wrong about him having a crush on Kyle, so yay I guess.

Ha! I knew it! I knew Gordon’s problems with gayness had to do with a little twinge in his loins. It almost always does.

Where is Spooky? I figure he’s a solid 3 or 4, if not 5. I know Amanda is a 5, plus she’s a fujoshi (like me!), but I kind of feel like Spooky likes the girls a little more, since they seem to be easier to impress and seduce in his experience.

Well, we know that Spooky is bi.

I really love how Laampros talks. He exudes self-confidence. He’s polite and respectful within the context of his own strange framework of morals and ethics. He’s honest. Brutally honest, but still. And it’s also clear to me that he knows things that us humans just don’t. It’s so refreshing to have a “villian” like this. In other circumstances, would he be considered a villian at all?

I think some of it may depend on the tone of his voice though – I’m ‘hearing’ his words as being delivered with disgust and disdain, which moves them out of the realm of ‘polite and respectful’, but I can see how they could be read that way if a different tone of voice is imagined.

I think there are 2 possibilities here: either Lamproos is indeed not uderstanding the importance of privacy for human beings, either he’s doing it on purpose to manipulate Kyle and separate him from his pals. I’m tending towards option 2. What he does is not only “blunt” or “insensitive”, it’s downright degrading and manipulating. I want to slap this demon in the face (the big one I mean, not the small, frightened, angry and confused one)

I don’t think Laampros understands about privacy at all. He’s an embodiment of fire, and fire isn’t really known for respecting boundaries. Add in that business of reading minds, not to mention being naked all the time, the entire concept of personal boundaries might be completely unknown to him. However, I’m sure he understands physical boundaries, such as the wall between Earth and Hell.

Personally, I suspect that Laampros just doesn’t CARE about human privacy issues and personal feelings, but would consider them a weakness to be dispensed with and disdained. Not so much operating from a lack of understanding but from an excess of dismissive arrogance. Or yeah, doing it deliberately to hurt and manipulate Kyle.

If you go back a few pages, Kyle is feeling what they are thinking. It’s part of being a demon/god I guess. That’s gotta be scary for him, to know how they feel and think. Not everyone is supportive.

Mate? MATE? But…but… Sigh. Looks like my ‘ship’ has sailed. 🙂

This really has to rank as one of the WORST ways to come out to your parents.

Still curious about his mom though. Are demon moms better at parenting than demon dads? Is Laampros typical of demonic fathers? (I mean, he IS willing to let Kyle keep his ‘toys’, I suspect not many Demons would do that. But who knows?)

Well, it’s not like Laampros didn’t already know Kyle was gay. The first time they met he had just finished having sex with a man.

Laampros in panel 5 be like: “Why do you want THIS one? It’s all bloated and useless. And why does it have so many souls crammed inside it? Are more humans like this?”

Damn, that’s stupid embarrassing! Though with all that’s going on does anyone really care right now? In the grand scheme of things, I think keeping a demon from trampling all over the earth is more important than who Kyle has a crush on. Afterwards, I feel like Spooky wouldn’t really care, he seems like a great guy that would be flattered, but wouldn’t make things uncomfortable for Kyle if he didn’t feel the same way. Truth be told though, I am still shipping Kyle and Duncan despite how impossible that love story seems to be now.

Ugh, I feel like he’s about to eat Spooky. Both because he is full of souls and probably has a reputation Laampros knows about, but also to teach Kyle a lesson about attachments. Ugh, ugh, ugh. I really really hope I am wrong.

Exploiting Kyle’s attachments is far more useful in getting Kyle to cooperate than killing them.

I hope that is the way he thinks! He’s hard to read as far as his “parenting” intentions.

I have been in the hospital, again, for the past two weeks, so although i have had internet access, there was a filter in place that blocked a few of my favorite blog sites, despite completely missing tumblr and other homes for actual porn. this site and the unfolding story was among the losses.

this story, this group of friends, have had a story unlike any i would have expected, creating a world of demons in which, so far, better angels are absent, as are the more senior powered beings who might have been expected to come to the rescue when the going got tough. and i would still like to here from kyle’s mother, who had to have been some kind of a bad ass herself to have borne llampro’s son. these characters can’t live in a vacuum.

Reading this page again I found myself wondering how if he was so interested in Spooky that he was so quick to end up in bed with a super-villain? If he always had those feelings how did he fall so quickly for someone else (since it was made clear he had complete trust in the bad guy), or was he just suffering from multiple conflicting desires generated by the skilled seduction he was subjected to?

Well, some persons can have very serious honnest crushes or even be in love with several persons at the same time. Plus you can also still love someone and realise it’s never to be and allow yourself to get interrested in someone else. Spooky is a colleague, and also a very good friend: Kyle might have been afraid to lose him and/or lose his place in the Young Protectors if his love went public.

Ask yourself this: did Kyle ever express any actuall feelings for Duncan? The whole thing seemed more like the sexual equivalent of offering a man dying of thirst some water.

You need to reread the comic, Duncan couldn’t use Kyle to form his pact with Kyle’s father without Kyle COMPLETELY trusting him, and he displayed that trust in offering his virginity to Duncan. He most definitely had actual feelings for Duncan, he had to for Duncan’s plans to work.

Bad judgement doesn’t mean deep feelings, just means he wasn’t actually thinking it through.

The magic REQUIRED deep feelings though, the fact it worked demonstrates that Kyle’s feelings towards Duncan were deep and intense. It’s not like he just picked a guy up at a bar and decided to sleep with him he formed a relationship with Duncan, something Duncan was careful to develop. He had to have Kyle care deeply for him and it worked.

I don’t remember the magic requiring deep feelings to work, link?

In order to break the barriers between earth and the hell dimension, Duncan and Sircea needed the trust of Kyle and that meant that Duncan got the assignment to seduce Kyle. In that moment of orgasm, Duncan used Kyle and visited with Laampros. Duncan admitted to all that after the fact when he was dressing and leaving Kyle alone in the warehouse. In fact, Duncan bragged about it to Kyle.
Duncan lied to an 18 year old and all men understand that 18, horny, and seeking the first orgasm that doesn’t burn your house down, is a heart not to be toyed with.

Oh, I remember that trust was required, but the poster above keeps insisting that ‘deep feelings’ were required as well. Trust is not deep feelings.

Well, maybe you won’t convince each other of your points of view. I can see a case for both.

I’m actually fully open to his point of view, I just want to see where deep emotions were stated.

I mean, they only saw each other three times, only really had like one and a half conversations, so it’s hard for me to see how Kyle could have any real deep feelings for Duncan since they barely know each other.

Kyle was desperate and also cared deeply. Combo.

If you have what you just (think you?) *know* would be unrequited romantic feelings towards your best friend, I think it’s common to try and stuff those feelings deep down, and at least try move on to someone else. Doesn’t mean feelings are gone.

Though he has feelings for Spooky, it won’t stop him from looking elsewhere. Maybe, especially, his situation made him almost ‘desperate’ to find love elsewhere. I’d say it won’t be unsurprising if Kyle almost crave some close connections with someone, and here came a guy who knew just how to use that. Oh, and he happpened to be available for sex/love without Kyle causing damage to him.
Look at how fast Kyle connected with him, was oki with them having sex. He wanted to trust him, wanted to have sex, and gave that trust.

Is feelings for Spooky are no less by that.

Hmm… maybe Kyle can’t even help that he has feeling for Spooky. Kyle is half demon, maybe it’s a hell thing. Since spending so much time in hell maybe Spooky just really appeals to demons.

Now I need to check back to the internet scene to see if the in-world fangirls predicted it. I remember spooky saying he’d be on top, but I don’t remember who he was with.

No, there was one with Kyle and Spooky. Kyle comments that Spooky is saying “no” on every panel and the Spooky says “Me thinks gay Spooky protest too much”. Though we never see very clear pictures of that one.

Was it that much a surprise for (some) readers that Kyle has feelings for Spooky beyond close friends? I thought it clear LOL.. Now I wonder what exactly made me sure earlier on. And when.

Irrefutable confirmation would have been page 4 of the Truth Or Dare minicomic. Spooky may insist on having skin to skin contact in order to keep warm, but it would be Red Hot’s choice to kiss him on the back of the neck while sleeping.

That one was a ‘sure-tell’ page for me, but I know I ‘knew’ before then. Maybe it was just a feeling that grew, until I felt it was ‘obvious’.

I was also pretty certain that Kyle had feelings for Spooky. I think I was just in denial as to how much that might affect the story. And going back and re-reading things now I’m seeing ways that it affected Kyle-Spooky interaction that I hadn’t quite picked up on before.

I didn’t really see it but I’m not sure how good I am at remembering comic details from several months ago

I just really hope Spooky feels the same.

We know that he’s attracted to girls, but he could be bi. Even if he is actually straight, I can imagine that he’d be totally cool and understanding with it – but of course it would rule out a potential romantic relationship. I was thinking maybe Kyle would end up with Flyboy, although he has his ex in the bonus story to consider.

The short story featuring Spooky, Amanda and the demon Anaado strongly indicates that he’s bi. Still might not be reciprocated, though.

I was hoping for Kyle to end up with Flyboy, too. I’m not too crazy about Flyboy’s ex…well, not really his ex is he? More like past friend that had potential, right? Still, would rather see Flyboy with Kyle. I’ve never gotten the feeling that Spooky was interested in guys, as he seemed more into the Commander, imo. *shrugs*

Spooky is bi. It’s been confirmed in the card packs. His first kiss was with a male demon. The question is really if he only thinks of Kyle as a friend or not.

Ah cool. I’m not signed up to Patreon, so I hadn’t seen that. The plot thickens! I strongly suspect that Spooky may be many people’s favourite character, so a pairing of him and Kyle would undoubtedly be very popular. I second Gunbolvur on having previously inferred some sort of romantic connection between him and Commander – then again, that could be in the past, plus I can imagine her being too professional to date one of her team members.

Regarding Kyle, I’d guess that currently Spooky would view him as a combination of friend and younger brother: he respects him, but would still want to protect him. Doesn’t mean that that couldn’t change over the course of the series as Kyle matures, however 🙂

Well, guess that shuts down any future for Duncan and Kyle, seems like Kyle no longer has any feelings for Duncan at all.

A person can have more than one person they love. I’m polyamorous, I have 5 boyfriends, all of whom I love equally as much.

Kyle may not be poly, but his feelings are his feelings. He’s still mad at Duncan, but I’d be surprised if he were able to completely shut off the way he feels about him. As I said during the sex scenes, dude is a silver fox.

That said, Duncan has some MAJOR groveling to do before I’ll be OK with him trying to see Red’s short hairs again.

Yeah, but Laamprose made no mention of his feelings for Duncan, whom he already has on has on the hook with that mark burned into his flesh. You’d think if he wanted to use someone to manipulate Kyles feelings, hed use the one he already has a hold on. Maybe tomorrow.

I feel that while Kyle HAS feelings for Duncan, he’s worked through them and noe they can’t be used to weaken him. His Spooky crush, on the other hand, is a relatively close-guarded secret, and thus can do more damage when it gets out.

but i do have a general bad feeling about what might happen next….Spooky is completely helpless full of souls, and the team hasn’t been able to stop demon daddy for too long so far…
(also in some sense this page hits a little close to home in a way and i can more understand Kyle’s eagerness to jump into Anni’s lap before)

Oh. My. Gosh. I don’t normally do this, but I’ve seen others tell everyone here about really well-done media with LGBT-friendly storylines here, so I feel I just HAVE to let everyone know about the AWESOME anime I just binge-watched on Crunchyroll! If you haven’t heard about Yuri!!! On Ice, GO WATCH IT NOW! It looks like people are starting to catch up to what Alex has known all along about doing yaoi/BL right, and I’m so glad this one came out of the “motherland” (so to speak) of the genre! I loved this so much, and I usually don’t even watch sports-themed anime. This one was well worth the last six hours I spent watching it. I’m tired, but happy and just had to share. And for those who are looking for a decent yuri, Izetta, the Last Witch, also wrapped up, and it’s a bit better in storyline than a lot of the ecchi mess passing itself off as Yuri these days, so check that out if that’s your thing.

Yuri on Ice is amazing, and the closest a sports anime comes to being yaoi, without being yaoi. Just a sports-anime where the main character happens to have a male love interest.

I love the awesome animation + how it focus on the mental stage, pressure and friendships within the iceskating/sport world. I’m currently tripping to watch episode 12. Have to wait a little. I hope SO much we get a season 2. 12 episodes are not enough.

But Yuri on Ice is solely a sports anime with two main love interests who happen to be same-sex, livining in idealized world where their love isn’t looked down upon or met with hatred. It bugs me when people say, use or compare this show to any Yaoi or BL manga or anime they’ve seen. Yaoi and BL are extremely problematic mediums that exploit rape, abuse, etc.

So Yuri On Ice isn’t the “closest thing to a Yaoi” it’s an anime that normalizes two men who are in love with each other in a sport’s anime, something that was unprecedented before this year.

But Danish said it wasn’t a yaoi, so it’s all good? And you have to know that there are people out there who will make the comparison, and even lump this anime into the yaoi genre because the main characters are in a same-sex relationship, so I think that it’s valid (if not entirely accurate, as Danish mentioned) that the comparison be brought up. Just saying.

Oh, I know it’s not yaoi. I’ve even been in debates with people, who’s trying to call it a yaoi-series, that it’s a just sports series with a male love interest couple. As I said in my previous comment, but maybe I wasn’t clear enough that.

Looking at that line, I probably should have added …’as some people categorize it as’.

I know, right? I didn’t have time to watch during school, but now that holiday break is here I’m trying to get caught up on some good shows that I’d been hearing about for a while. This one was so far beyond my expectations–I couldn’t stop watching! Right now I’m going to lay down for a nap after watching all night, then spending most of the morning geeking out on the TV Tropes page for the anime. Perfect way to enjoy a quiet day.

OMG! I just got to watch the season finale, and I’m so happyyyy. That last moment’s message. And I actually (almost) cried twice during this episode. It was so beautiful.

I did cry during the end–it was really so heartwarming and so satisfying to watch; I may even watch it again, it was that good! I seriously hope they produce a season 2 of this show.

It is also amazing that real ice skaters are watching and loving the show. ^_^

For Kyle’s sake, I hope Spooky is bisexual and interested in him, even though he’s a demon, what Spooky was tortured by for years. I’ve shipped Spooky/Kyle ever since that Truth or Dare comic where they were cuddling. So cuuuute! Now I know it’s TRUE! Kyle really DOES have a crush on Spooky.

Maybe that’s why he was so willing to do it with Anni…he knew he’d never get Spooky (either because Spooks wasn’t interested or he didn’t want to risk burning him), so he took the first person who was interested in him as well, and that he couldn’t hurt.

Spooky is bisexual, but whether there is more than friends- interest… hmm.

I also believe there has been a hint of this info in one of the Spooky prose short stories that’s been posted on Patreon, prior to the release of the cards. I know I leaned towards him being bisexual then. The cards confirmed it. I’m preeeetty sure Spooky has most experience with the female gender though. Quite a lot of it even 😉

Okay, Saturday morning/Christmas Eve food shopping for family get together: done. It was incredibly crowded at the supermarket, but we had one person with the trolly and the shopping list directing the other two as runners, “You go get this item from that aisle.” In and out in less than 30 minutes.
Next up: taking the dogs for a swim down the back creek. Later today: giving the labrador his annual summer haircut.

–I shopped yesterday. The Supermarket I always shop at was crowded to the walls with carts, people and groceries, It took me an extra hour just to get through and it was mostly my usual shopping.
–I once helped trim a poodle and I used to trim my little Yorky, I never knew a labs required haircut but my girlfriend once tried to shave her schnauzer and had to go to the doctor for a special ointment.
–Today, I made chicken stock. Tomorrow I make red sauce for the pasta, and Sunday I take it all to my Niece’s house. My Niece is going to grill the delmonico roast, do vegetables.
–We used to do Christmas Eve fish with smelts, stuffed calamari in red sauce on angel-hair pasta, haddock, whitefish (whatever was fresh in the market), spinach and potato calzones, and all sorts of good stuff.

BTW – that girlfriend and her schnauzer stuffed by a taxidermist when it died and she keeps it in her living room next to her favorite stuffed chair. I think it’s the creepiest thing ever.

Why did they shave the schnauzer??

For the life of me, I don’t know. I think to save money.
I still get the shivers and frights from the one time I saw the stuffed and mounted dog.

Sometimes I think my mom would want to shave our American Bulldog if it wouldn’t look so terrible, just to stop the constant shedding. (She would never ever actually do it though, we love our fur babies)

When I was a kid we had an English Bull. She was one solid dog. If she hit you running, you went down.

We had a cocker spaniel that we used to buzz a couple times a year with the horse clippers. He was a really good boy about it, but he would get so embarrassed afterwards. We tried to buzz my grandfather’s cocker, but he was not so good about it. We also had a shih tzu and he was a real pain to clip kept trying to bite us. I also had a long hair chihuahua that I clipped once or twice. She was a good girl, but it was difficult because of her size.

We shopped today and it wasn’t too bad. Not great, but not terrible. Getting a parking place at the Super Target was a real pain.

In college I used to make Linguini with clams and mushrooms in a white sauce. Everybody was my friend that day.

Also, some dog breeds shouldn’t really be clipped. This, especially being double coated dogs, should rather be groomed often than clipped. A double coated fur keeps the dog cooled down just as much as it’s keeping it warm. Thete’s also a difference whether the dog has fur or hair.
If a cut is necessary, many forget that a dog, that is much out in direct sun, should be applied sun screen. Dogs can get rashes, other fur/hair issues, and skin cancer as well. Or that even a thick-coated dog can freeze, and need a cover, during cold times if it’s clipped.

I’ve been writing a YP fanfic as well. I officially made it to 2 pages, which is notably longer then I’ve been able to stick with any fanfic before. I just feel like I’m writing it one sentence at a time though, because it is difficult to set aside time for me to write. I’m just working on it here and there when I find a spare moment.

I know the feeling. I’ve done longer writing assignments, on fixed deadlines, for the Legion of Net.Heroes writing group. But I’ve discovered that for the hellsnake fanfic I’ve just been writing whenever an idea comes to me, which means stuff of wildly varying length and at unpredictable times. All I can suggest is to keep plugging away at something that you enjoy.

These are always fun to read.
