Welcome to Spooky’s world, Flyboy. It’s a lot more Humphrey Bogart than George Reeves. (With a bit of John Constantine sprinkled on top, of course.)

You can talk about this page at The Young Protectors Community here.

We are now just $54 away from unlocking a special, fully nude pin-up for all Patrons!

Some time ago, I commissioned a special, fully nude pin-up of Kyle and Anaado by artist superstar, Travis Moore.  And I’ve been dying to share it with you.

As you know, this comic is my full-time job and I need to bring in $7,000/month pre-tax to pay for our professional artists and keep this comic going, as well as pay for those taxes and my basic living expenses. If I’m not at that level of support, I’m burning through savings, which I’ve been doing for a while now.

I originally set this reward at $6,500/month, but it’s become clear that until I’m able to bring in more readers, we’re not going to hit that number anytime soon, and I don’t want to keep Travis’ awesome work from you any longer. It’s just too gorgeous. I want you to have it.

We’re now at $5,446 in support, and I’ve just moved this Milestone Goal to $5,500, only $54 away. If we hit that amount, I will make this pin-up available for download by all Patrons during the following month. After that, it will continue to be available for $5+ Patrons to download anytime, along with the 62 safe-for-work and five other fully nude Milestone pin-ups they can currently download right now. ($10+ Patrons get to download an additional 17 NSFW pin-ups and they’ll get to download a high-res version of this one as well when it’s posted!)

I am deeply committed to continuing The Young Protectors story, and I wouldn’t be able to do that without the continuous support of our awesome Patrons, the Woolfpack. I’ve already released a beautiful (and safe for work) pin-up of Flyboy and Cory created by Travis. Hopefully, y’all will love this gorgeous new (and fully nude!) pin-up of Kyle and Anaado as much as I do!

Please let me know if you have any questions! And thank you as always for your interest and support in my work! 😀

So!

So! We finally get to see what a day (or night!) in the life of Spooky Jones was like before he joined The Young Protectors!

Who is this mysterious woman? What’s happened to her brother? How will Spooky do playing his role of “hard-boiled gumshoe”? And is he still just as eager to kick this beautiful lady to the curb now that he’s seen her in the flesh?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  1. Ha! Well what goes around, comes around, right? At least now she seems seems to be a bit more humble when she brings up her brother. I hope our boys can help!

  2. “…research assistant AND fashion consultant…” ? ? ? ? ? ?

  3. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

An attempt to explain the costume?

  4. Wow, some really intricate work in the pencils here. Love the luscious detail the office setting provided. Three cheers to our artists! They must have had a blast (or pulled their hair out)!

  5. If anyone can, it’s Spooky and Flyboy.

Yes. As Cassidy noted, Flyboy is dressed rather strangely for a teenager wandering into an office. And Spooky sees an opportunity for a little joke here to tweak Ambrosia’s tail some.

Yes, penciler Adam DeKraker really pulled out all the stops on this page. Stunning detail that really brings you into Spooky’s office at the time he was working with Cassidy. I was over the moon when I got the first pass for this.

  6. Avatar for Gary Gary says:

Best line ever…“she only gives back what she gets”. Love it!..maybe because I do that myself far too often. :\

  7. Not for Spooky and his grubby jeans and hoody. He has the least style of them all.
Cassidy has her rather classic style, Mitch has his costume with breastplate, cap, goggles, and leather jacket, all classic.
And Ambrosia Van Dumas has a slinky black dress slit up to the navel showing off her long, long, ooh long legs… and cleavage (lots of cleavage)

    fixed: spelling & typo

  8. Her brother is lost in the forest of Male Ennui (oh the horrors, the horrors!)

    {spelling fixed}

  9. Kinda’ my thought there Dave. Uh, fashion? Wait, tights, leather. uh. . . never mind.

  10. Thank you. Spooky’s definitely having a bit of fun on this page.

  11. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

I’ll have you know that on the 17th Plane of G’ronja, in the 23rd Cosmos of Gurag grubby jeans and a hoodie are the veritable height of fashion!

  12. “fashion consultant” pfffttt XD
    “you’ve… heard of my family?”
    “I have connections ;)”
    Mitch sweating in the bg
anyway back to the actual page. boy howdy the color and details are _ and why do i feel like her brother (and maybe her) is up to no good himself…

  13. Avatar for dswxyz dswxyz says:

I think Spooky must have some sense of fashion at least when it comes to office decor. I imagine very early on, after setting up shop, he realized it was important to dress up the office to impress his clients. So he’s got a few antique things like an old card catalogue and an oil lamp, and a few mysterious curio things like a Ouija board and a demonic-looking statuette. Possibly most of it is just for show and he hardly uses any of it.

Something else just clicked. If Ms Van Dumas is a normal (if rich) human, then she didn’t have anything to do with the cops being unable to reach the office. It was just Spooky’s ward against bad guys all along. Spooky suggests the spell itself may be faulty, but what if it’s not? Should we not conclude that the cops that tried to climb the stairs are actually bad guys, as defined by the spell?

  14. Movie Nerd #1
The Maltese Falcon began as a novel by Dashiell Hammett that was originally serialized in BLACK MASK magazine in 1929. Hammett says that Sam Spade is a dream detective and not from a real person.
It was adapted to film 4 times:
1931 - as “The Maltese Falcon” declared by the Hays Production Code to be “Lewd.”
1936 - as “Satan Was a Lady” which is a comedy.
1941 - as “The Maltese Falcon” with Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre, Sidney Greenstreet, and Gladys George
1975 - as “The Black Bird” with George Segal. This is a satire.

The 1941 version with Bogart was instantly successful because it was a unique thriller: the first “Film Noir” genre movie. It was the model for the entire movie genre - Film Noir - about hard-boiled detective dealing with fallen women.

  15. Movie Nerd #2 (Caution Spoiler Alert)
The statuette of The Maltese Falcon that is seen in the movie was really four props. they were 11.5inch high and two were plaster while at least one was 45lb of lead painted black. Because later movies and satires created so many duplicates, the one that Sam Spade disfigured in the movie when they all realize it is a fake is the only verifiable Falcon from the movie and was auctioned in 2013 for over $4million.
It is truly "The stuff that dreams are made of."
Which was Dashiell Hammett’s Shakespeare reference from THE TEMPEST: “We are such stuff As dreams are made on,”

  16. I also find the details to be a real treat. And as for her being up to no good, how can you not trust those gentle, vulnerable eyes?

True. And he’s had a bit of help from someone very committed to setting the right mood.

An interesting question. I suppose it depends how much we can trust Young Spooky’s magical chops.

Fun as always to read your speculation, David.

And, as a film noir buff, I did find all this quite interesting, Dave.
