Well, at least the villain is impressed. Thats a good thing, right?

Please note: These are work-in-progress colors. Vero should get me the final colors soon.

So!

So! Spooky and Flyboy seem to have escaped the bad guy — for now! But Spooky has still got a noose around his neck, and at least that part of the rope is still glowing! What does that mean? What’s happening to Spooky right now? And what will happen if Flyboy isn’t able to get the noose off in time?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  1. great page!
is this “oh shit!” for our intrepid heroes?

    Spook’s does not look well. . .

  2. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

The altitude may not help. Or does Mitch’s power usually cover that too?

I just had a wild thought. What if our least favorite old guy is Future, possibly Evil Spooky? His reaction was weird. And he picked up The Hat™. I can think of two reasons why he might:

    1. To use it for a tracking spell.
    2. Sentimental value…
  3. Hum. “Evil Spooky”. Not a thought I want to consider! The dude can harbor way too much power! Two. The hat? Maybe he is a fan of old detective novels or he is giving a nod to detectives that helped him when he escaped hell? ALA Mike Hammer novels? Trench coat and Hat would suggest the latter and I would heartily applaud it that is the case!
Love the two reasons you posted too!

  4. He doesn’t have much time left.

Interesting. Do you think they look alike, Nate? I guess we can’t see his eyes…

  5. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

No, he actually looks more like me.

But we know Spooks is sentimental about hats…

  6. At the very least, Spooky’s hat can be used to track him down. Possibly it can also be used as a focus, like an impromptu voodoo doll, to cause Spooky harm.

I’m not sure how Flyboy is going to get the noose off of Spooky one-handed and in mid-air and without the enchanted knife. Dare we hope that the blue blaze can vanquish the violet vermiplasm with a mere touch? Just slurp up that demonic dynamic as if was a strand of spicy ramen.

Actually… can Spooky just absorb the purple energy? He can generate something very similar himself, so maybe he can hold it within himself? Or would a feat like that only be possible with magical essences that he himself generated?

  7. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

Awesome alliteration, my minstrelish mate.

  8. i’m baaaaaaaacccck~ survived the spring semester. holy moly i’ll be a non-trad senior this fall who said that was allowed??? ANYWAY my my, Things Have Happened. pardon me while I mash all my thoughts on several pages into this comment
sunglasses dude is too powerful!!! he just snaps away the giant tuning fork(?) and the binds around his lackeys? i mischaracterized him it seems, he was just amusing himself/letting Spooky think he had the upper hand…
    “that’s impossible!!”
“no… it’s necessary” (plz watch interstellar fsdfdggd)
also: “An old–fashioned charmer who can sweep you off your feet.” ALEX NO AHAHAHA
alsoalso nuuuuu more fear for mah boyyyyyy ━(◯Δ◯∥)━ン although the benefit of being this far behind is I don’t spend too long fretting. or losing my mind over that cliffhanger DAMN.
and no i don’t remember where Flyboy go his knife but YEEEAAHHHHHHHHH looks through comments oh my god. Brick joke is not at all the right term but uh, WOW that’s some long con stuff there… thats wrong too but okay. oh man oh man did Spooky have some kind of feeling about This situation specifically or what oh maaan i love this (really wish i could remember/felt like searching for where and how Mitch got the arm wound)
I’m sad i missed the vote on CH3 P2, what a page!! oh no did mah boy get hit??? gasp omg it’s a magic noose he’s still being strangled ლ|’Д’ლ|
P4 is also fantastic!!! and P5-- Not the HAT!!! panel four made me think they were suddenly in the matrix but no, it’s the city and cars far below at an angle tilts head
and the final (patron) page is driving me nuts bc i can’t tell what that explosion is. it looks like Mitch didn’t get the noose off though!!! guess i’m back to biting my nails lmao~

  9. Thank you, Julia! What a fun comment to read! (And you’ve taught me something with “Brick Joke.” I hadn’t heard of that before and, luckily, TV Tropes had the answer.)

    Welcome back!
